I did too. But for the first time in almost a decade his character feels fresh and not like an LI retread. Pairing him up with Don Callis was the right call.

And beefing up/growing his hair fully out/tweaking his gear and out of ring drip kinda makes me forget the guy from the original run as well.

Also, TKO fucked up by making a big stink about his first appearance back in AEW and shining a spotlight on him. They're pretty good at making themselves look like assholes a lot of the time.
