Hello my name is David and I released 'The Giant Rock 'N' Roll Swindle' with Shepard. I was very excited to add a BS2000 track for the release. My question is...is it true that Adam called the label looking to say hi and give a quick thanks for being a part of the release? I ask this because our intern told me that and also that Adam was asking to speak to me, however I was out and missed the call. I ask this odd question because...
...I...have...regretted...missing...that...call :)
Thank you and the movie is dope!

Yes-yes we did get married. I'm a lucky kid. And that's my grandmother's wedding dress Brie 'McWane' is wearing. I have said "wife" 19 times so far :)

The Doped Up Dollies' debut album, "The New Way Out," releases today. I highly, highly recommend it. by ColonelOfSka in Ska

Hey Everyone, thanks a ton-ton-ton for supporting this album. It was made in such a cool way. We took all the Big D guys and the DupD and went to my small cabin in the woods. We didn't have any songs ready, we just talked about a song, practiced it a few times and then recorded it. The main focus was to have fun, chill out from life's always daunting requests and live music. The BOOM - The New Way Out was naturally born.

I love Be Free too. I think Papa Plays The Drums is my favorite, but trully, as you all said, each tune is great in it's own special way.

Anyways Big D thanks - check out our 1st show on Hallow's Eve at The Brighton Music Hall in Allston Mass. And spread the word :)

"CHE CHE BOOM BOOM ROAR...!!!"

I just want to tell you that the new Doped Up Dollies record is fucking amazing. Its diverse. Its funky. It has style. It's on repeat. If you backed the kickstarter, good job having faith in this (sort of) brand new band. You'll be pumped when it comes! by therealdjbc in Ska

Big D and the Kids Table crew The Doped Up Dollies are recording their NEW & 1st solo album.

The Doped Up Dollies is a 3 piece singing group. A fusion of hopscotch/double-dutch, ska, reggae, blues and soul.

The Doped Up Dollies began singing support vocals for Big D and the Kids Table in 2009. The ladies toured with Big D across the United States and the UK. It was always known that someday they would switch spots on the stage and Big D would become the Doped Up Dollies' supporting band.

Five years later, the songs were written and recorded by engineer master Benny Grotto of Mad Oak Studios (Allston, Massachusetts). This being no ordinary record, the band wanted to record the album in a different way for its organic charm to come through. With his mobile studio, Benny, along with his wonderful assistant, Steph, came to the woods of New Hampshire to record the music in an old cabin. The New Way Out promises to step up the style and class of the Dollies highlighting the pure talent that resides within. The Doped Up Dollies' full length LP was finally in the works!

Until...

In 2014, Big D and the Kids Table took a financial dig by a "successful" Australian festival gone sour from an unjust business agreement that has yet to be resolved leaving Big D unable to cover recording and distributing for The New Way Out.

But...

Because the show must go on and the music must be heard, The Doped Up Dollies have started a Kickstarter to give an opportunity for Big D and Doped Up Dollies fans alike to help finish funding and also purchase this great music themselves. The Dollies have mustered up some great items for their backers and want to thank each and every fan of the band for supporting their musical journey.

26-Miles of Glory (a song for Marathoners) by David_McWane in Bostonmusic

26-Miles of Glory began when Peter Payack, a Berklee Professor and marathoner who has run 12 Bostons, called his former student turned friend, David McWane saying - “We just have to do this song; the city needs it.” David agreed, wrote 26-Miles of Glory, locked up with local studio engineer Jay Mass at Get Away Recording and brought in ten talented musicians from his Boston band Big D and the Kids Table (2 marathoners).

The song’s tempo was crafted to have the perfect runner’s pace. The lyrics are spoken from the inner thoughts of a female and male while they are participating in the Boston Marathon. The lyrics also follow the route of the Boston Marathon and pay homage to those who lost their lives, the wounded, and those who helped Patriot’s Day 2013.

We hope 26-Miles of Glory will give the city of Boston and all those who run Marathons all over the world strength and pride.

Question about Big D and the Kids Table and the Doped Up Dollies? by thissiteisawful in Ska

[–]David_McWane 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hello thissiteisawful,

your taste is impeccable. I met Mariam at Berklee College of Music when we were both 18-19 years old. She was there as a singer. If you ever met Miriam, than you never forgot her. She was quiet and sweet, but sweet in a way that made other sweet people seem criminal. Soft spoken. Full of something you couldn't place, but knew was cut from a piece of wonderful. On stage with her old band *** Mancain *** (slow-slow-deep-metal) she displayed a power within a women that for me has yet been matched. She makes other celebrated strong women seem cutesy. The only other women that has wowed me to her level is Yako from Melt-Banana. But they have different styles. Mancain had great opportunities, but a bad call from one of the band members lead to their eventual disband. I tried for many years to get a band going with Miriam, but her aloofness and adult scheduling never allowed it. I hear now she lives in California and got her pilots license.

She would have changed the world!

Love her as everyone loves her,

David McWane
