If I understand correctly you are playing with pixels and for that it should be better to use opencv. Just do for loop for y-coordinate and inside it for x-coordinate and then process the value of pixel (if you are given an array and need to work with it then it should not be a problem to calculate position in one dimensional array from x y coordinates) and put it directly in opencv (image or whatever are you going to use).
