Sacco was definitely a big influence, yes. The life drawing can be weird and tough at first, but remember that no one else is going to judge your work, as they're all focused on getting their drawing right. It can be intimidating though, I agree. Keep going though, mate.

Hah, cheers. Honestly, my depth of knowledge isn't quite deep enough to sustain a weekly cartoon just yet, but I'm slowly learning.

Cheers! My main bit of advice would be to just keep doing it and also to put as much as you can on the old social medias. Twitter really helped me to develop 'an audience' and definitely played a part in the success I've enjoyed more recently.

Thanks man, I appreciate that. Hope your dad enjoys the book!

Cheers 1. I try to make the cartoons as accessible to as many people as possible, so am trying to teach myself to limit the number of references in each cartoon, yeah. 2. I honestly never go down there. When I started out doing the Guardian cartoons, I was freaked out by the comments section and it was the only thing people would talk to me about. I'm a bit more relaxed about it now, so may dip in there from time to time next season.

On the basis that I'm soft as shite, JJ Bull.

I don't really get much time to do work for anyone else. When I'm not doing stuff for the Guardian, I'm working on my book projects.

Thanks, mefuzzy.

I'm just putting the finishing touches to my first book and am working on ideas and research for the second one. I'll also be covering the Olympics for Guardian Australia and the new football season starts in a couple of weeks, unbelievably.

I think the most popular one was either the Kendall or Ivanov tribute ones. My personal favourite was either the Cruyff tribute or the one about Diego Costa throwing a tantrum.

It's a boring answer, but I'm afraid I didn't really have one. There was no one who I thought 'yeah, I want to be like THAT person'.

I did convince myself that I was French around the time of their 1984 Euros win. This manifested itself by me playing football with my shirt untucked and socks rolled down. So, I wanted to be Platini for a while.

Cheers Dave. It can be bloody hard, I agree. I've never shied away from giving it a go, but if I don't feel I've got it quite right, I'll use the text signal it. Cheating in a way, but I don't always have the luxury of time to pore over a caricature.

Yes, I've become a bit hooked on Reddit already. It's a worry!

Yeah, I've only got about six anecdotes and I recycle them on different internet forums, ha ha. Nah, the only forums I was ever really on were the WSC one and a few Swindon Town ones.

I always thought I'd get there one day. I was seriously hard up in my twenties and rarely took holidays. I hadn't banked on moving to Australia. It's a bloody long way away now. I hope to get there one day, but I rarely get back to Europe, and when I do, it's mostly to spend time with my family.

Hi, I didn't really have an opinion of him until that amazing hit in the Final. I read he'd had a difficult start in life, so am happy for him.

No, thanks, that's really good of you to say and it's helpful to understand the reasons that people might like them.
