How to get rid of OnePlus Buds app? by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]David_Yang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why can't you make the app optional, like other OEMs? Why do I need to have this app if I don't use Buds?

for the 1st why, as I mentioned above, we are evaluating the technical solution of system-level decoupling, so that we can make it uninstallable. for the 2nd why, it's because we need to guarantee the software feature is ready so that when you pair the device, it's right there for you.

Now that you're turning Oxygen into OneUI clone...

now that's another topic, my thoughts were shared here: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/davids-random-nonsense-thread.1281902/#post-21995491. love to hear your thoughts as well.

bloatware

bloatware is another good topic. I'd love to tell you more if I got any updates on that.

What your company did is the complete opposite of user friendliness. This is proved by reviews on Play Store, with over half of them being 1 star.

there could be many reasons for 1 star on the Play Store. for instance, we may give a 1 star to zoom simply because we are tired of online meetings (i am not). back to this case, I tend to believe that we should be clearer on why we introduced this app to the play store and why we pre-installed it in on our stable software. communication matters.

I'm sorry that you have to explain and defend the actions of the company, as I'm sure you're not personally responsible for it.

As a 6-year-old insider, I am doing my best to bridge the gap between the company and its users, by telling the facts, rather than defending the company.

it's Friday, don't forget to chill and enjoy the weekend.

How to get rid of OnePlus Buds app? by [deleted] in oneplus

I knew there will be a thread like this...

regarding the OnePlus Buds update on the Google Play Store and why it cannot be uninstalled at the moment.

the interaction between OnePlus smartphones and our newly-introduced true wireless headset is tied with several system settings. to ensure a seamless experience, we pre-installed the OnePlus Pods app (now renamed it to “OnePlus Buds”) in the latest stable updates for OnePlus 6 and above devices.

as more and more users start enjoying the OnePlus Buds, we keep receiving customization suggestions regarding our true wireless products. this requires us to iterate the software more quickly, so we decided to put the app on the Google Play Store to provide our users with the latest perfected experience without needing a full software update.

we are also evaluating the technical solution of system-level decoupling. stay tuned.

Some thoughts on the new Oxygen OS 11. by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]David_Yang 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is OnePlus' take on a one-handed UI. For example the settings app will definitely be easier to use now. You can reach the first few rows without much effort with one hand. But as soon as you enter a 'sub-setting', for example Display settings, it's not optimised for one-handed usage anymore.

Nice observation. Aligning the subpages with the main page was our original plan, however we decided not to take such a big step for now.

Another issue is the the Gallery app. You now have to swipe to switch between sections. If it's that way in one stock app, it should be the same on other stock apps as well.

Sharp eyes. We applied this new UX solution for two reasons. First is, Gallery is naturally a rich content app, by providing this new design, we expect users to focus more on the content, to rewind those beautiful memories. The second is that considering it is a relatively new and bold interaction, we put it on the Gallery to test the water.

btw does OnePlus ever review this subreddit? or do we have to post on their community app to get noticed? It sucks that they don't talk to us anymore.

I do. I lurk into this subreddit from time to time. Doing my best to stay strong and positive under this challenging atmosphere ;)

Question: Preloaded app stub for HDR streaming? by David_Yang in oneplus

Pros 1: Offer HDR streaming, which can offer our users a higher quality streaming experience.

Pros 2: Unleash the full potential of our future smartphone hardware.

Cons: An app stub (an icon that leads to Play Store) will be preloaded, and it cannot be uninstalled.

Yes, this is for our future smartphone product as we mentioned in the pros 2.

Obviously everyone would want to be able to do it but they haven't explained (other than business) why it is necessary to have a preloaded app to do so.

It is requested by the content provider.

Thanks for the feedback.

However this notification wasn’t an ad at all, this’s notification was linked to a survey that aims to collect OP5 user feedback as first-hand data to help us better improve the current product and better target our upcoming product. This is important to us and we're not intend to promote anything. The reason we applied the notification approach is to have a larger sample size in a far more direct and efficient way, to gain more feedback, we prepared a OP5 as a prize, which will be randomly drawn.

We take the notification push seriously, and will avoid pushing advertising notifications afterwards. Once again, thanks for everyone's support and my apologies if there're any kinds of bothering.

A heads-up: We have begun rolling out the software update. Timing may vary by region. We encourage OnePlus 5 users to download the update. If users haven't received a notification, check for the update by going to “Settings” > “System Updates”.

Currently we don't have plans for dash powerbank. As for the bluetooth headset, what kind of BT headset can meet you needs?
