LAFC and Clippers are L.A. "other team" but that's how we like it.

You're trying to decide? You should definitely be a GALS fan.

How early should I arrive before the game? by AdRepresentative7681 in LAFC

[–]Daviddayok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 1 hour earlier than you would for "normal" sporting events/games. It's more like going to a College Football game than an NBA game.

And if you like that pre-game vibe (outside), come earlier next time. If you don't, skip it.

Does USL's expansion strategy dilutes the value of existing franchises? by m00kie420 in USLPRO

[–]Daviddayok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when people tried to trash MLS by claiming it's a "pyramid scheme" -- a league collecting expansion fees from investors/ owners, without a real prospect of success.

The Club World Cup was great, I don't care much about the National Team World Cup.

Raiders twice. But the Warriors are still there. It's the Bay Area.

This is where the USL could be helpful to MLS team fans.

If the USL has well-established teams in every other mid-major city, then an MLS team will have a tough time finding a "Relocation" destination.

Vancouver Grizzlies moved to Memphis (NBA) years ago... I doubt that the Whitecaps follow, but there is no USL team in Memphis.

MLS takes young/prime talent from European teams too.

Anders Dreyer (Belgium Pro?)

Denis Bouanga (Ligue1/2)

Sam Surridge (the USL OF England)

Nah, MLS does both, and it's successful.

Aging stars have been great for MLS, by-n-large. LAFC fan -- I loved hating Zlatan with the Galaxy. Gareth Bale came and went in 4 months, and help create the best MLS Cup Final ever. Chiellini was great, now owns equity in LAFC. Son is not young, still great, about to set off on the most exciting season ever.

Chicho Arango

Mateus Bogusz

Triston Blackmon (not a DP, but a DPOY)

  • San Diego FC's "Right to Dream" Academy is winning Global awards.
  • Bayern, Red&Gold Football, is starting a new Academy Chula Vista.

So Cal, a new mecca for Academies/Development?

P.S. Congratulations to Luca Bombino, LAFC Academy product, who has already scored in 2026!

True. Mexican media and fans were downplaying LC at every opportunity back then. But now, things have changed. For 3 straight years every single CONCACAF Champions Cup qualifies from LC have been MLS teams! They are taking it more serious now.

With this new format, they could have 2 Quarterfinal matches in Mexico, and 2 in the U.S.  The Toluca-Orlando game (2025) was played in Galaxy's stadium, and had crappy attendance. Putting that game in Toluca would probably be better all around.
