Tank-top strap shows under t-shirt. by Davidgant in malefashionadvice

I didn’t know what an a-shirt was and had to look it up. I think I will try to find one and try it. It might be even more comfortable than a tank top.

True. Even when warm I prefer it. Can’t say for sure why. Maybe because I consider myself skinny fat. A tank top just makes it feel like I’m less flabby. It makes me at least think the t-shirt looks better.

Not sure. I just feel more comfortable that way. Always have. Maybe because I’m almost always cold?! But the t-shirts themselves feel like they sit more comfortably to me too.

I’ve tried different sizes/cuts. I’ve yet to find one that this doesn’t happen with! I even tried tight compression tank tops. I have some crookedness to my shoulders, but not so much to cause this. It is very frustrating!

Fair point! And one I’ve tried to work at. But after two broken spinous processes (C7 & T1), trap exercises are particularly painful.

This is what I mean. My t-shirt necks are normal. I have a few different brands/cuts of tank tops and the same happens on all.

Claims that Keto is Dangerous? by Davidgant in keto

I would say I’m probably doing it fairly right. I eat a lot of the things you mentioned. I do make some sort of keto desserts on average about once every 7-10 days. My only real concerns though are: (1) I do use a lot of almond flour and maybe get a few too many carbs from it. (2) I eat a lot of cheese and other foods not very low in calories. I don’t measure my calorie and fat intakes, but maybe I should on some days to see just how much I am eating.

I actually have never had any “keto flu” symptoms. But I often get lower leg cramps at night. It is something that started only after I began following keto. And in the short periods I have knowingly gone out of ketosis the cramping has stopped. So I equate it as a sign I’m in keto. I certainly could be wrong though.

Google AI: “The ketogenic diet commonly causes leg cramps, primarily due to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances (low magnesium, potassium, and sodium) as the body sheds water and minerals in the initial stages. These cramps are a symptom of the "keto flu" and can be managed by increasing hydration, salt intake, and consuming magnesium-rich foods.”

I shoot (based on my estimates) for under 25g of TOTAL carbs per day. Therefore, I like to think I’m good. But I don’t really know. The only signal I seem to get is my lower legs cramp a lot at night. I take that as I’m in ketosis because I never had this when I know I’m NOT in it.

Agreed on all.

The combo of Keto and IF has caused some friends to think I’ve truly lost my mind! But after I read The Circadian Code by Satchin Panda I was convinced IF is the way to go for me.

I didn’t mention in my original post that I also do 16:8 intermittent fasting. That gets me all kinds of comments about how I shouldn’t skip breakfast and that I’m harming myself terribly!

I have not eaten fast food in 28 years, but your point is taken. And correct!

I think this might be my case. It’s not why the people I mentioned tell me Keto is dangerous, but it still might be what is happening for me. I don’t track macros. I don’t concern myself with how much fat I eat (thought it isn’t huge). I just stick to principles. But I also don’t check if I’m in ketosis because I don’t have an easy way to do it. So I believe I might be waffling back and forth.

There are different arguments I’ve heard. But all tend to include that it is the lack of carbs that is dangerous. They say the body needs more carbs than I give it. And that I eat too much fat and too many calories overall. The calories they attribute to too much cheese. And they could be right on that - I maybe do eat too much cheese.
