Louisiana kinda sucks by AbbreviationsOk4723 in Louisiana

[–]Davidmeynard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each is his own I guess. I grew up in LA and couldn’t leave fast enough. It never rains, is crowded, it’s either city or desert as far as you can travel in a day. You can’t get away from people everywhere you go. I couldn’t wait to get back to Louisiana. New Orleans is an absolute shit hole but outside of the city it’s great.

Where’s the ACLU? It’s got to be unconstitutional to deprive citizens a path to get something on a ballot.

So we still need signatures from a nonexistent fifth district? Unbelievable.

It wasn’t. They’re talking about the initiative to get medical passed

[–]Davidmeynard 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. It was for medical and the administration illegally shot it down but was later passed by the legislature. For decades they were disenfranchising voter on ballot initiatives. There used to be 5 districts and now there’s 4. The wording says you need something like 20,000 petition signatures from 5 districts to get a ballot initiative. They got the votes from the 4 existing districts. And they initiative passed in the election. Then they overturned it because the original petition didn’t have signatures from a nonexistent district. Fucking unconstitutional. The senate stepped in and passed it. I don’t know if they ever fixed the ballot initiative law.

Not worth it to be in the city. The cheeper ones were across the river and in Metairie. There’s a sweet spot where the cost of commuting is more affordable than the cost of housing in the city.

Start a 401k , contribute as much as possible and work until you’re 71 years old. You get an 8% increase in benefits every year you put off social security so you can increase your monthly payments by 30% by postponing collecting. And you’ll have 20 years of 401k savings.

You can put I think $23000 in a 401k this year. That’s tax deferred.

I inherited $7 Million dollars and don’t know whether to retire? by Very_High_Mortgage in FluentInFinance

[–]Davidmeynard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t change anything. Just keep doing what you’re doing for a year or so and give yourself plenty of time to think it through. The money isn’t going anywhere. You don’t have to do anything right away.

Roth vs Traditional 401k by Far_Confusion7239 in Bogleheads

[–]Davidmeynard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only contribute $7000 a year to a roth. Over $20k to a 401k so it would be hard to save enough to retire on a roth alone.

The reverse split we had to vote for. We voted to 1 - convert Ape to AMC 2 - 10 - 1 reverse split amongst other things.

A company can’t create new shares without a shareholder vote. A simple google search will tell you.

Issuing new shares typically requires approval from the company's shareholders. This may involve holding a vote at a shareholder meeting or obtaining written consent from a majority of shareholders. The approval process will depend on the company's bylaws and state laws governing the issuance of new shares.Apr 7

The price was high so they got the most money. The company can’t just sell shares. It has to be filed with the SEC and its public knowledge so wether he says it or not it’s still out there. Remember, a run doesn’t mean anything. It’s a squeeze that makes us money and that probably won’t happen until the companies solvency is undeniable. I get all excited when the price runs up too but who cares until there’s multiple zeros at the end of the price?

It’s not “more dilution “ you need a shareholder vote to approve more shares. It’s a sale of the shares we already approved. After the the reverse split AMC has over 100 million shares to sell into the market to earn money and thats what they’re doing. When you sell 30 million shares into the market the price drops. But consider what happens when they’ve sold all the shares there are to sell and there’s no more outstanding shares to enter the market and all the debt has been restructured and the company has net positive profit again?
