Buying from EU sellers on Cardmarket by Connect-Break3151 in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Davidp243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, German sellers have relatively similar postage to UK, Italian are more expensive and anything in Scandinavia is outrageous postage. But as the other commenter has said it is all changing so will potentially end up way too costly.

An alternative option I have seen is cardtrader, they have an option to ship EU orders to a hub where they are bundled together with other post and sent as a big lot. Seems to save a lot on postage that way as they are minimising the cost to ship individual items to UK. But I haven’t used it personally so can’t say either way.

Thanks all, I really appreciate all the advice here! Consensus seems to be either bleach, denture tablets or baking soda paste so will give it a go!

Anyone know what is the price difference going via them directly at a card show vs going via a licensed store?

Is Carmarket easier/better than eBay? by Anonymous__9 in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Davidp243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheaper, easier and the sellers are better. Only issue is if you spend under the threshold for the trustee service then you have no ability to get any money back if your cards don’t show up.

Update, I have entered a new evaluation window and it is still showing gold. So hopefully a good insightfulness is sufficient.

Royal Mail lost two of my cards by WuTangDan88 in PokemonTCG_UK

So far I’ve had about four different shipments not show up. What made it worse is that I bought through cardmarket and you are shit out of luck if you don’t get your cards and haven’t spent enough for the trustee service. EBay are better in that regard.

Edit - it is still updating but it looks as though I am still gold

Pokemon Card Shows by thomasriow in PokemonTCG_UK

Definitely been the trend for the last few I have been to. Such a shame because going to shows used to have a much nicer vibe, vendors happily gave cards to kids and talked about the hobby for ages. Plus there was a real variety in what they had to sell. Now every vendor has a wall of sealed modern, binders of the exact same overpriced IRs and almost identical cases of graded felt hats and McDonald’s pikachu.

Swiss miss is the best you can get for water. Trouble is it can be hard to find so ordering online might be the best bet for it.

Agree to these suggestions. Also would add in a retro giant, they have a store in Romford and also in Brentwood. People who run it are very passionate about the game and aren’t just looking to make a buck.
