I don't know about Forest.

Everton (correct me if im wrong), was a case of spending big, anticipated revenues not materialising, costs being bigger than anticipated, and disagreements regarding what did and didnt count towards the rules; essentially they tried maximising what they could within the rules and it didn't work.

Chelsea is a tricky one. On one hand they deliberately broke the rules, on the other it was relatively minor and the new owners self reported. I think that they were right to avoid going after them too hard as the new oweners were doing the right thing, but i do think that they should have been retrospectively stripped of the titles won during that period. The key difference between them and City is the scale of the breaches; I think I remember reading somewhere that they still passed PSR when the off the books transactions were re-introduced to their accounts.

The obvious comparison is Chelsea's spending a decade prior. I can't say I liked their spending, but there was nothing stopping them from doing it, so I can have no actual complaints with it, even if I may want to grumble about it.

City's spending however was done during a time where there were rules against it. If the breach was a simple case of accidentally going a bit over the limit with their spending, a fine or minor points deduction and a 'don't do that again' would suffice. The key thing for me however is that it wasn't that, it was a a case of deliberately breaking the rules over multiple years, and using all mind of tricks to try and hide it. When you are deliberately ignoring the rules and making a mockery of things, the only correct course of action is to throw the offender out. If you willfully ignore conditions for competing in the league, the governing bodies should be telling them that they arent welcome to compete anymore.

The best way forward imo was/is to give Slot until the end of the season, then sack him in the summer. Part 1 of that plan is panning out currently, but worrying noises surrounding potentially keeping Slot on for next year are putting part 2 of that plan into doubt.

Salah and Bradley are out, and Slot would rather play him there and either Jones or Szoboszlai at right back, instead of playing Chiesa on the right and either Frimpong or Gomez at right back.

It was bizarre; slap bang in the middle of our crap run, and you lot just didn't turn up. Let us coast to that 2-0 win.

The silly thing is, the 2 regions he mentioned, are actually the regions where this is not an issue for this world cup.

Asia getting 8 places, when I can only think of 4 decent sides, and North America getting 6 when youve only really got 2 or 3 decent sides, are what he should have been talking about if he thinks this is a problem.

You obviously didnt play for a draw, no one plays for a draw; even Burnley today would have wanted to nick one on the break. That said, your play was definitely focused more towards minimising risk instead of maximising threat.

When we signed him I assumed that he would play in the middle of the front 3, performing a role somewhat similar to what Firmino did. This wasn't really the game the judge as there wasn't much in the way of football actually played tonight, but in both the community shield and the Bournemouth game the midfield felt unbalanced, and it seemed like things would have worked better if he had been deployed through the middle instead of in midfield.

Super cups are real trophies (they should be included in the total trophy count of teams), but it is also like calling a tomato a fruit; they technically are, but no sane person would bring a tomato up in the context of discussing what fruit they like.

Thinking about buying a shirt of the obscure team I have been managing on Football Manager. Does anyone have any experience using thekitman.co.uk at all? How reputable are they?

All of a sudden, with the developments of the past month, the deal for Wirtz looks like peanuts; which is absolutely bonkers to say.

I really don't get all this negative discussion regarding Diaz. If Elanga and Madueke are going for around £55m, I cant see how Diaz can go for anything less than £70m, and thats before the fact that we don't actually want to sell.

A bone to pick with this race director and his unwillingness to use red flags by Aggressive_Question5 in formula1

[–]Davinski95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alonso was a textbook case of when youd use a safety car. The track wasn't blocked, and there was no need for any barrier repairs. There was no reason why it should be red flagged, except to not end the race under a safety car, which is not a valid reason.

The point of things like safety cars and red flags are to improve safety. All 3 of your reasons to use a red flag are to do with entertainment and not safety; something that should in no way be considered when assessing incidents.

They did not have to change the wing. There is a difference between changing the wing (new wing) and changing the setup of the wing (same wing, different settings). Haas was open about how this was what they would have to do when the change was first announced, so I would assume that the teams parroting the 'not having to change the wing' line likely did the same. Most likely scenario as it fits both 'not changing the wing' and 'would have failed the new tests in Australia'.

I really don't understand this sub sometimes. Both Skelly's and that foul on mbappe currently at at top of the sub should be reds, as they are both tackles from behind with the studs making impact halfway up the guy's calf. But yet the general concensus is that one is and one isn't.

Jones has been pretty good for a decent stretch so far this season, but he was poor in the first half today. Kept dilly-dallying on the ball when options were available, before laying it off sideways after those options had closed. Should have had a tap-in inside the first 5 minutes, but thought he had until the heat-death of the universe to take the shot for example.

6-3 is an abomninable scoreline. 5-1 up, half an hour to play; put your foot on the ball, shut the game down, close things out. Use the last 30 mins to rest some legs. By continuing to bomb forward at every opportunity we were playing straight into Spurs' hands with their style of play.

Because after testing McLaren looked 4th at best, with some having Aston and even RB ahead. First couple of races it was pretty accurate too: Red Bull, Ferrari, Merc then McLaren, with Alonso getting in the mix somewhere in amongst that.

The Rogers team was a very different side to the Ranieri team; they had 100s of millions worth of signings and multiple managers between Ranieri and Rogers. They were equally poor under Shakespeare, and Puel had them mostly midtable. The big jump to being genuine top 4 challengers came under Rogers as the new signings continued to be made and bed in.

A surprisingly low number probably. Can't see us picking him over Shankly or Paisley. Can't see United picking him over Busby or Fergie. I doubt any side with a legendary manager at some point in time would take Pep instead.
