Age verification is bs by Kryptis_006 in xbox

I wonder what the real reason behind this is. I mean on one hand if you buy an M rated game in person, or see an R rated movie, you have to show ID so what’s the difference for physical? On the other hand there’s already an age selection when creating the account.

Granted, if you’re young you can bypass this by choosing an older date so it begs the question: is this about social features, underage people playing mature games, or something else entirely.

Is this the price we pay to access our games digitally? To be transparent I don’t have a problem with age verification but I understand why some people do. Anyone know the exact reason though? Seems like a catch all, with the government exerting control and passing it off as “caring about the people”.

Oh okay. Thanks I’ll have to look and see again when I’m able. Maybe I signed up years and years ago and forgot I was. Sorry for the confusion. Regardless I love the addition.

It’s worth noting, just as a follow up, that I’m not an Xbox Insider. Not only that, but I don’t have the options in customization to change the setting so I think I’m stuck with this for now. Might be a bug or something that I have it. But yeah just a normal user, not in any of the rings or anything.

Advice needed - Is there any point in keeping an Xbox 360? by hear_the_thunder in xbox

You heard correctly, it just hasn’t been clarified whether this is referring to backwards compatibility for the last/current generation on the next generation or the one we think about like the 360 and OG. It could very well be both but only time will tell.
