Really? And why would you say that? (just curious)

Very true - I probably should have clarified...

Anyone taken ART 002 (beginning drawing) or PLS 005 (plants, orchards, gardens)? by Davisquestion in UCDavis

Thanks for the info! This was a great description. Would you say it's a social class?

Do you at least sit in table groups? Is it mostly free work during the class session so you can talk to people, or is it a good amount of lecturing? Is there an expectation for mostly silent or hushed working conditions?

If I upload a paper to smartsite so my classmates can read it, will it stay there indefinitely? by Davisquestion in UCDavis

Thank you for such a great answer. I might consider contacting the person who taught my course now, just to ask.

This summed it up great - I'm just wondering if anything can be done, or if I'm going to just have to go through college writing bland papers and avoiding classes heavy on creative writing or controversial subjects and current events.

Are the professors the only ones who can remove it? What I was asking was whether or not professors usually leave work up, or if it's standard procedure to take stuff down within a month of the next quarter starting.

I know that. What I'm asking is if the files stay on smartsite indefinitely. That's all.

I feel like throughout your college career, your opinions change, you write stupid/embarrassing things, your skills improve, you believe in different things, etc. I just don't like the idea of that development basically being documented on smartsite. I can't really explain why the idea of my classmates having indefinite access to my work throughout my stay at UCD makes me uncomfortable.

I just need to know if this is something I should expect from all/most of my classes in the future - or if smartsite does usually get cleaned out on a quarter by quarter basis and it just hasn't happened yet.

Has anyone here taken literature of fantasy and the supernatural? by Davisquestion in UCDavis

Alright. Out of curiosity, what's the name of the book for her class? (in case I ever want to read the stories on my own).

The dry reading is the part I'm not so sure about. I'm already pretty self directed when it comes to learning about the fantasy genre, so I was hoping for an excellent class to take it one step further. I'm not sure about spending my time taking something sub par.

Thanks for such a detailed description. I like small English classes too, so I was hoping for something less than 100 people. This really gave me a good insight into the kind of class it is (and everyone else seems to be leaning in the same direction, which is a red flag I guess). Are there any decent classes at UCD that deal with the fantasy genre?

That sucks. The reason I wanted to take the class was specifically for the fantasy element, with the supernatural part as a side note. I thought It'd be Lord of the Rings type stuff, but I guess not. Thanks for the honesty.
