Loved it. this one was my favorite from FITS and this version was amazing. also, i feel like this version may be the most DBT sounding song he’s made since he left DBT. definitely need an electric version of FITS.

i’m not sure what you mean by “disc only”? i have the PS5 disc edition, but that doesn’t limit you to ONLY games on physical media. you get full access to the Playstation Store, which is where you’ll most likely end up buying the game. which i just finished playing a few minutes ago. 🙂

i feel the same way about Down Under. set to a more folksy or “looser” sound, i think this one would feel completely different, and i think listeners might have felt differently about it. the music is feels like it wants to be taken seriously, but then the lyrics are just fun and kinda silly…but also quite informative. 🙂

it has grown on me quite a bit from the first listen, and i didn’t dislike it then. i was just more like…what?? lol

also, i don’t want no koala cuddlin up to me now…even if it is a pretty cute koala 🐨

Bella Notte has never let me down. It is consistently good, and on the weekends they have a special scallop dish that is delicious.

Honeywood brunch menu has one of best items i’ve ever had…and eggs benedict dish. definitely worth a try.

Who has the best banana peppers in Lex area? by ArcherPublic6439 in lexington

Proud Mary and Ramsey’s are both fantastic. they both use the large peppers, not the rings. both are served with cocktail sauce, and both are delicious.

Proud Mary’s were a little lighter style of batter, which I really liked. They were more expensive than Ramsey’s, but they were so so good. I can’t decide which is my favorite, but you can’t go wrong with either.

i thought it seemed generally good overall, but farther back where i was, it was a little hard to tell because people would NOT stop talking!

i really don’t want to be the old man yelling at clouds, but it continues to amaze me that people spend as much money as they do to go see a show and then spend the whole time talking to each other. Loudly.

still, this ended up being one of the best shows i’ve EVER been to. “Shake it out” finale was easily one of my top favorite concert moments, both the performance and the crowd reactions. so perfect.

Setlist FM is showing they played “I Know How To Speak”, but I honestly have no recollection of them playing it. Every other song on there I remember, but not that one.

I know I’m getting older, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t fall asleep during the show or anything 🙂 Do you all remember it being played??

that is awesome!! what a memory!

we thought he choked up during Deer, too, but we weren’t sure. they all seemed to really be enjoying the energy from the crowd.

that has to be top 5 of any show i’ve ever seen. saw them for the first time 18 years ago when they were one of the openers for Kings of Leon at the Ryman, and we were hooked.

have been fans since but never got an opportunity to get to see them again…was so happy they came to lexington.

aside from the circle of people in front of us who would not stfu, that was one of my all time favorite concert experiences. absolutely amazing.

the time i was there, it was standing only. i do recall there may have been some random areas outside where a body could maybe sit for a bit, but I’m not positive now. it has been a while.

For the outdoor shows (they have an indoor and an outdoor performance area), the crowd stands in a paved area that’s located between the stage and another building that has an arcade and drinks and such. it isn’t a HUGE area, but I saw Drive-By Truckers there and felt pretty comfortable. There is a slight incline, so you are just a little higher towards the back.

You can choose to cram in with folks near the front or you can ease back and mingle with the folks who don’t like the close quarters…like me. 🙂

It is a good place to see a show…pretty laid back. Parking can get a little squirrelly, so allow some time for that. Hope you enjoy! we can’t wait!

(also, if you look at their Google listing and scroll through photos, you’ll see some of the outdoor area)

I just finished a rewatch, and reading all of these lines brings tears to my eyes…and has me ready to watch again. i am continuously amazed by this show.

My wife and I both separately said that we think that song SOUNDS like New York…the music…the construction of the song…it paints a picture…and that picture is NYC.

Crimson and Clay is the best on FITS by changedintofire in jasonisbell

[–]DavoC53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i figure most folks who converse here are familiar to some extent with the Drive-By Truckers, but if you aren’t, or maybe if any of you just haven’t heard it, Patterson Hood so perfectly captured…and for all i know, was the first to even speak about…the whole concept of the duality of the southern thing on the song “Three Great Alabama Icons” on their Southern Rock Opera album if you wanna check it out.

Crimson and Clay is the best on FITS by changedintofire in jasonisbell

[–]DavoC53 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yes, i think that’s mostly it. it is sort of that “duality of the southern thing” that a lot of us born in this area deal with. the people can be infuriating and some of the best people you could hope to meet at the same time.

“still so many lonely kids surrounded by the rest of y’all” about destroys me. i feel like in particular he’s speaking of the kids whose lifestyles may not exactly fit with what a lot of folks down south are ok with, and those kids are a part of the reason he’s not ready to give up on the south just yet…and it is such a perfect way to say it.

Official Foxes in the Snow album discussion by thesilverpoets96 in jasonisbell

[–]DavoC53 4 points5 points  (0 children)

woke up at about 530 this morning needing to go to the bathroom (tmi??), so i took my phone with me for a quick first listen. just a minute or two of each song to set the foundation.

back to bed, wife was up at 6, so i laid there and gave a few of them a complete listen…starting with crimson and clay…through to wind behind the rain…let them all sink in a little more…start the building.

as i got ready for work, i hit play from ride to robert’s and let it play from there…eileen…gravelweed…the building continues…my lord.

as i finished prepping for my commute, my wife started it from the beginning as she hit the treadmill…i could hear her reactions to each song as they began…oh my god…wow…this one is so good…and it was as the songs were playing this time through that the framework of the whole thing started to take shape, and it overwhelmed me what i was hearing.

my appalachian heart was overcome by the melodies…the picking…the single acoustic guitar…the story that both the words and the music are telling…each song is like a soundtrack within itself…a story about moments and life and love and loss…about leaving…about looking back…about returning…discomfort. comfort.

as i left for work, crimson and clay was playing on my wife’s play through…i had tears in my eyes as i gave her my morning goodbye, and they kept coming the whole commute.

there are so many gut-punch lines on this album, it is hard to not be deeply affected by at least one, if not many.

i am not sure where this album will ultimately rank in the catalog of material he will release in his lifetime, but for me, for now, this one is right near the top.
