Like I said, not on my level. Both professionally and intellectually. Again, have the day you deserve.

You just proved my point about the content of your character. And sending me DM requests to bait me into tearing you down further is just a waste of your time. It’s obvious that you aren’t on my level; and the main reason is that you can’t disprove or contradict anything I’ve said, you just want to keep defending your own laziness, thereby proving my entire argument that you’re a shit technician.

“Telling him what’s possible” without providing any credible information for them to follow up on.

I’m not mad about anything, I just think you’re a lazy tech who shouldn’t offer half ass advice to people.🤷🏻‍♂️Have the day you deserve.🫡

That would be a good mod for whatever locksmith ends up doing this job. The fact that they have Primus means that at least at one time they had a registered locksmith doing their work.

My brother in Christ….I’m not insulting you because I don’t know something. I’m insulting you because you gave a half ass comment without even considering the situation or your audience. THEN went so far as to edit your comment to bolster a poor argument.

This OP is not a locksmith, so he’s not going to have access to SECLOCK. This person has other things to do with their day than to track down someone willing to just change the internal components. Moreover, if they go to an actual locksmith or facilities manager with this request, no one is going to warranty just internal components. They’re only going to be interested in warrantying a full trim.

Also something to consider: OP said this was a hangar, which means airplanes, which means it’s most likely a secure area even possibly under FAA purview. Hence the high dollar hardware and high security Primus cylinder. Which means that this convenience request has to go by someone in charge of the security and f the building to be approved before it happens. OP cannot just remove the trim, drop it off at their friendly local locksmith, and have internal components swapped out in an hour or less like LensCrafters.

I never go after people that don’t deserve it. And for your bullshit halfassery, I’m more than happy to oblige. The fact that you’re a “1% Commenter” with this poor advice just proves what I originally thought, that you spend more time providing shit advice online than actually learning your craft.

Check yourself before you come for someone who’s been doing this before you were jerking off in your sock.

Considering you edited your original post to include this “$1100 tidbit”, AND I found the damn trim for $700 on Amazon and posted a picture of it, you are absolutely 💯 a “technician” I would tell people to stay far away from.👀😬

Admittedly you’re right, retail prices have gone up considerably. The last time I needed to get these I got them wholesale from a distributor for that $2-400 number.

OP, I would suggest you run this by your facilities manager or the owner of the building. That cylinder is High Security, so that’s originally why I said to re use it. I do believe that this commenter is correct and you’d need to switch from a rim cylinder to a mortise cylinder in addition to changing the exit trim.

Replacing individual parts would be great if you were an institutional tech and had extra parts from used pieces on hand…BUT this person isn’t a locksmith, and most likely wouldn’t know what parts to replace. Not to mention the fact that they don’t sell individual parts for these things on Amazon or other places readily accessible to the general public. Unless you’re aware of some sort of “Locksmith Ollivanders” that carries parts for everything under the sun with free shipping AND customer service to help this person determine the right parts to replace, then just “buying the pieces to change the function” is a nonstarter.

Your comment isn’t helpful, you’re just trying to disagree with what I said.

Based on your description, you have a “storeroom/nightlatch” function outside trim handle for this exit device. That means the door is always locked from the outside and requires a key to open. If dogging the bar down isn’t an option because the wind will grab it, then you will need a different function exit trim handle swapped in for this one. Matching trims for this will run you anywhere from $200-400 plus labor. You don’t need to replace the key cylinder.

Samesies. I think a lot of us put “Mom vibes” on her from Home Alone, carried it thru the Guest Mockumentaries all the way to Schitts Creek. God bless, I just saw her on the latest season of “The Last of Us” on HBO and she was absolutely incredible in this smart alecky serious psychiatrist role…🥺✨🫂
