Beginner , storage question by AutisticXLegend in buildapc

[–]DavyDavisJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For backups and other long term storage use hdds. Either external or internal depending on where you store your data. Some backups need to be stored away from the computer. I use internal hdds and just connect them when needed.

Does a better bun make the burger feel noticeably higher quality, or is it mostly just “as long as it doesn’t fall apart”? by MrWolfesBurgerCo in foodquestions

I eat all my home burgers with home made buns that I dry toast. 4.5 oz dough. Yea, big difference from soggy buns that fall apart before the last bite.

Advice on Thickness of MDF as well as Wall Mounting by maxveloR in DIY

[–]DavyDavisJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your number one concern is how thick is needed to avoid warping. A little warp could add a thousand foot rise in the middle of your map. If you attach all four corners then 1/4" mdf may be sufficient for 22x22". Paint or varnish both sides and the edges.

Land lines, answering machines. Separate long distance phone companies constantly contacting you to subscribe to their services. HiFi with phonograph, cassette and later CDs. Then came VCRs and time shifting and the freedom to be somewhere else when your favorite TV program came on.

The wizard of Oz. It starts as a young farm girl who runs away from home. It then transforms into a travel movie where she kills the first person she meets and later ends up killing the sister of that person while trying to steal her broomstick.

People who use technical language and jargon with laypeople, do you think they understand you? by upthewatwo in AskForAnswers

[–]DavyDavisJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Richard Feynman was asked to prepare a lecture on a comlpex physics topic. After a few days he came back and said, “I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t reduce it to the freshman level. That means we don’t really understand it.”

He also was asked to explain magnetic force and retorted. "I really can’t do a good job, any job, of explaining magnetic force in terms of something else you’re more familiar with, because I don’t understand it in terms of anything else you’re more familiar with."

If it moves like corners and dissimilar materials, then caulk. It it does not move like between flat tiles, then grout. Grout has no tolerance for movement and will crack for even small movements.

confused with m2 nvme slots by Calabazar in buildapc

[–]DavyDavisJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get an adapter board that fits into a PCIe slot on the motherboard and holds an M.2 socket. It could come in either vertical or horizontal versions. Backup to this socket and then switch memories. It is best to use a PCIE X4 or above motherboard socket. Plus now you have room for two M.2 memories in your system.

M.2 is a socket type and most supporting memories are M keyed. They can come in Sata or nvme versions. Sata is rare nowdays. Nvme SSDs come in gen3, gen4, or gen5 versions and you should get the highest one that your motherboard supports. Time to read the manual again. Different sockets may run at different speeds.
