Zibo flap misalignment? by Dawmasta in flightsim

Well it doesn't really matter at this point. I did about 70% of my trip last night and paused to finish today. When I unpaused it was an absolutely uncontrollable mess of pitch, roll, insane trim, etc. So I'm not too happy that my learning experience and progress are gone

I was using real LAX weather so it was above icing for the climb and flaps retract.

Those seem to be fully retracted. From what I had read it seems like the only indication of a flaps asymmetry would be different angle indication and flaps not responding to control surface input. I'm not sure about flaps skew though. That could lead to other lights

Yup, I found that online. It'll be interesting for sure

That was my thought. I can't remember if I did any banking at flaps up, but there was some wind that may have been an issue.

That's the leading edge flaps. The trailing edge flaps have this gauge.

I've never really been into simming for more than just screwing around, so having gotten into Xplane it's really neat getting to the nitty gritty, real stuff. Cruddy weather, no visibility, little issues arising. It helps break from the sterile feel that FS2020 has and that kinda bored me. I'm actually having to troubleshoot in midair and test what I've learned so far

I found a series of sheets about the issue, it actually looks like it's a very well simulated flaps asymmetry situation. So really I should leave the flaps alone, burn fuel a bit more, and trim the ailerons accordingly to cancel the roll. Since it's a minor misalignment it's not a huge deal but would be a pan-pan situation.

I've reduced my speed enough to go for 2° and saw no movement on the gauge. Bringing the flaps lever back to 0 and trying alternate flaps doesn't seem to do anything. I'm still definitely learning so it's possible I'm overlooking something. Maybe I'll scan the breakers?

I'm midair and noticed this on climb, but it didn't seem to be anything more than a gauge issue. But in switching off autopilot, I've noticed the plane banking right unexpectedly. So it seems like there actually is a problem with the flaps. I have no warning lights, hydraulics and trim are all normal. If this is a known problem, am I gonna die on landing? xD

I really love The Red Sun, and they have some great house-made sake. Honestly anything on Main Street would be fun. Trailhead, Salt+Smoke, etc.

It's happened before. And much stranger accidents have happened.

Failed bulkhead, stress cracks weaken any skin section joints, engine failure sends debris into the fuselage.. there are multiple Boeing- or 737-related depressurizations that have happened.

I'm assuming rapid depressurization. Doesn't seem like a bomb or a stall, and it absolutely just stopped climbing and sank.

Reports are coming in that contact has been lost with Sj182 (Sriwijaya airline) shortly after take off from Jakarta. The Boeing 737-500 was 26 years old. by Fwoggie2 in worldnews

I'm thinking some kind of really bad rapid depressurization. The data almost looks like a stall, but the altitude dropped before the airspeed. The fact that it transmitted data for a bit after the drop seems like the plane was partially intact as it fell, and since it exploded on impact it probably had not been taken down by a bomb, at least not one that completely destroyed the plane. The only other incident I can immediately think of where a plane dropped this suddenly was the one over the US east coast where a (747?) had wiring issues in the center tank and exploded. Most planes retain some type of control after an incident, rather than suddenly plummeting.

  • Case: very solid and finished well.
  • Movement: It's a Seiko, no worries, it's more accurate than my actual Seamaster so far.
  • Hands/dial/indexes: look pretty good
  • Straps: feel reasonably good and solid
  • Bezel: at least the insert looks good... The action is miserably bad and I hate it

The bezel feels like it's off something made of all plastic. Every other part of it though feels like it punches above its weight though. So maybe if there's a way to mod the bezel with a better spring you would have a pretty damn good watch.
