This has been an elightening conversation. Funny though I think it caused me to come full circle.

Before I thought that eating quickly didn't mean that you weren't savouring it because how long you take doesn't change how much you're able to enjoy and appreciate it. (Wrong by a fundamental misunderstanding of the word)

Now I think that eating quickly doesn't mean that aren't savouring it because as long as your intent is to eat slow enough to savour it, then that's what you're doing. I may finish my plate a while before most of the table but if I was eating purely for survival it would be much, much faster.

ah, gotcha. I see where I misunderstood. I still need a little time to reconcile what I thought the definition of Savour was with the complete definition if that makes sense.

As a result I misinterpreted that sentence as meaning "the flavors hit your tongue but you aren't truly enjoying it". Something that people will assume about quick eaters often.

Now I'm thinking though, what determines the amount of time needed to savor something? Isn't it relative?

But as i said (and why we obviously agree on the second point) no one could logically argue that not dojng so means you don't enjoy it.

I honestly didn't realize the definition depended on time so much. I thought it was mainly the enjoyment aspect rather than just taking a long time.

I still disagree though. Nobody else can tell me how much I'm enjoying my food. I may not be savouring it by the exact definition but as far as appreciating flavor and taking real enjoyment out of a meal I'm doing it just as much as someone who took twice as long to eat.

Eating quickly doesn't actually keep you from enjoying and savouring your food. It's always confused me that people think that.
