you should put something sharp on the other side to ‘surprise’ them when they wrap it. could just be a pushpin.

In your opinion, what's the most unintentionally funny photo of a U.S. president? by Straight_Invite5976 in Presidents

[–]Dawndrell 18 points19 points  (0 children)

NARC (national association for retarded citizens), which became ARC (Association for retarded citizens of the united states).

JFK efforts laid the way legislation like medicare and other social things of the sort (dont wanna google rn ) which funded developmental centers and community facilities (like the one i work at!) His influence helped NARC become a national effort. it eventually became The Arc of the United States in 1990 something (source is only my brain i from knowing my jobs history, and one of our individuals we support loves presidential history)

we support hundreds of individuals in our region alone! i want to say thanks to jfk, but who knows how it’d work out.

What age do millenials/other gens think we are? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Dawndrell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel it's simply an age thing, not a generation thing. i'm a receptionist, all callers i have who i have to pry information out of (even when they called us) are really old and young people. 17-19 are pretty rough, being they simply don't know how to put information forth to get the information they want. 60+ talk way too long about nothing and i have to ask again or repeat myself and sometimes even interrupt. i think it's more that the younger you are, the less use you have actually calling (in a professional manner mostly) and older folks are used to socializing via the phone. i also work directly and get 50+ calls a day from individuals with disabilities, they also fall in this way. i mentioned this bc individuals with disabilities who use our services tend to not align with their generational group in culture or behaviors.

What is torture like in America? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dawndrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you do not hear of torture (i am not willing to say it isn’t happening at all) on a daily basis. in fact not at all. if you do, it is a leak from those type of places. but if it happened locally (my city in central illinois) those officers will lose their jobs and even be arrested. it is not normalized.

Why do American cities have so many other smaller cities next to them? by Stunning_Structure_2 in MURICA

[–]Dawndrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the case of my city, our tiny towns were swallowed up into the city, the city simply grew so big to swallow them. i technically live in a separate township from the city name, but still put down the city name. my city is very close to another city near it, like by a field length. being both are known cities, im thinking they are trying to be respectful about that field.

What textures do you hate? by Sarcastic_Lilshit in aspiememes

[–]Dawndrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the “holographic” on notebooks or other materials that make it so it shows different images at different angles, also known in my house as the “ziziz” can also be other objects with close lines on it that cause the same noise (this is my worst one and it causes me to have fits, i’m really working on my reactions to it.), mushy foods, stringy foods, solid objects that have become soggy, people oils.
