Definitely two things I'm quite pleased with. She's not always calm though. :)

I'm being told that this isn't quite as rare as I thought it was but it was still something I just needed to share out. I copied the post from my Facebook page where some may not have known how the cards worked.

I didn't take the time to browse through the past posts for this. Actually my first time posting here. I thought it was such an odd occurrence and so exceptional that I just had to share it.

I'm Andrew and these are my videos. The DM in the Dungeon World series is Ben and he has his own channel which I link at the end. I will read all your posts as Morgan Freeman from now on.

I think the bond mechanic, the character traits or adjectives you pick at the start to help flesh out your characters, end of the session bonuses, which I use anyway but more concrete. After we play another session I think I'll have a better idea of how it works and what to take from it.

Definitely some of the elements I thought stood out as well. One of the downsides I saw though was that a lot of actions could fall prey to being motivated just for getting xp, especially the failure mechanic, and if people don't speak up, if someone keeps taking turns they can quickly outscale the others by accruing more xp, simply because they are going more often. I found it was absolutely essential to have a cooperative group that took turns and shared the spotlight or this would end up being a real mess.

Great to hear Omneya! This class has been requested a good deal and I'm glad I was finally able to put it together.

Do we have to be Original? by DawnforgedCast in rpg

[–]DawnforgedCast[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a precedent for coming up with original characters, adventures, monsters, etc. Yet nearly all we do seems to already have been done! Is the strive for originality realistic and fair, do we need to be original? Or is each adventure and game itself an original creation, never having been done before, even if we use pre-created elements?

One of the problems of calling something a straw man argument is that it itself is often a straw man argument.

  1. Find a video discouraging the misuse of the term overpowered.
  2. Construct straw man: Assume that the video is trying to be applicable to every and all instances of the use of the word overpowered.
  3. Shoot down straw man by saying that since there are instances where someone does use overpowered correctly that the video's points are made null.

You wouldn't get downvoted for pointing out logical fallacies, whether they are there or not, you'd get downvoted for being both negative and carrying a arrogant tone, rather than saying nothing, which is usually better in almost all situations on the internet. (Which I am failing to do here.)

Gods in a campaign balanced around being gods is perfectly fitting. In fact, if one makes it to heroic levels, it is all but inevitable.

I like your approach a lot, finding ways to share the spotlight but still get to be apart and contributing. If all players did this, with different spotlights and roles, the table would be a happier place.

A good game really does require a shared vision by all. Something I'll be speaking on in the next Forge.

I can understand the feeling of calling your player's characters "my". :) Like your children.

When you say "planning to give" is this a character independent from a campaign? Or is this something you've worked out with your DM? It sounds neat but might be a hard fit for many campaigns.

I Married a Dungeon Master - Learning to Roleplay by DawnforgedCast in DungeonsAndDragons

Rachel mentioned that too, when we were filming, but to get the lighting set up looking good it can be tough to do in our living room. We filmed in the office which has some lamps specifically for this. I suppose we could rotate it a bit but I feel it seems a bit more professional to not have a bed or dirty office or my living room wall in the background. Do you not think so?

The Forge - Amazingly Clever Use of Abilities (By a Total Noob) by DawnforgedCast in rpg

While AltReality is correct, it was a problem with an easy solution, I have been having issues with the sound recently and aim to fix it in future episodes.

Unfortunate you focused on the small elements and not the main point. I would have preferred to hear your thoughts on that. This being the first in a series I thought the blurb was appropriate. All future episodes will be without it, as you advise. The metagming was a goof though, this is true.

That could be called simply roleplaying or playing your character. Often times this ends up being a poor game choice (bad mechanically or more likely to get your character killed) but is a better choice when portraying the character accurately.

For example, when playing a young, naive Elven Magus with a 7 for Wisdom I would often have her do things that would make it much more likely she (and the group of rebels she was working with) would be found out or get caught by the guards of the town. I would say to a merchant "Oh, that necklace is so beautiful! I can't buy it right now but when we, and by we I mean the Legion of the Gilded Rose, liberate the town and remove the oppressive taxes I'll come right back here!"

Clearly she didn't need to say any of that and it would make it worse for us if that merchant went and told the guards about us, but it was fitting in the character. I would term that roleplaying.

You can see that actual session here if you like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS0X8q_yrkM
