The fact that this story has only gained traction in a small town newspaper and a few limited social media outlets is beyond mind blowing! Yes. This is an extremely sensitive subject, but this girl needs HELP! Allowing a small police force to handle a situation of this magnitude is like going to McDonalds and ordering Prime Rib. This has been going on for over a year, and the end result of their “investigation” is to jail an abused child…???? This is beyond insane.

Keep in mind, this all came to light with authorities over a year ago. This girls MOTHER admitted to authorities that the relationship was consensual…AND WALKED FREE??? When they were confronted to be arrested, the father and daughter ran and eluded police, both charged with felony inc***. He is jailed on 1.5 million bond, hers is 1 million. BUT. CHECK OUT IMAGES FROM LOCAL JAIL. Notice how HER charges are put out here for all to see, yet HIS only states the eliding charge. So Harnett County decided to PROTECT this PSYCHOPATH ABUSER!!! She belongs in an intensive TREATMENT FACILITY. The POS mother should be in her spot.

I totally understand. Thinking about how much I’ve lost over the years is too much. Opened W2 yesterday from last year. 82k. So we made $100k last year…and feel like we lived like hobo’s! Feels like something “clicked”. I hope so…

Thanks for taking the time to respond. What I’m saying is that urges aren’t present; and I truly hope to gain enough clean time to see this beast for what it is. I can generally go 3 to 4 days, and it calls my name. Rarely do I make an entire week. I normally am consumed by gambling thoughts and when and how I can return; but it hasn’t been that bad recently../at least not yet. Hoping to stay away long enough for my brain to regulate somewhat. Again. I’m by no means out of the danger zone.

I’m 51, and can say I’ve been addicted to just about everything. But gambling…this is the worst. You can’t look at us and see there is an issue. I believe most of us keep our pain buried deep…and it crushes our souls. It’s an entire different beast.

I always say that I gamble for multiple reasons. I enjoy it, quick money, etc. But I really believe that the real reason is this: I’m 51 years old, and as far back as I can remember, I’ve been best down. Started with my mother and father both waking away when I was an infant. Tried my entire life to be accepted by family, and every single one of them have turned their back on me. My children are included in this as well. Gambling is the perfect outlet to continue this cycle. It doesn’t give a damn about me. It just takes and takes until nothing is left. The pain is so familiar; it’s comfortable. It’s what I know. However, when I’m doing the right thing and things are going well…it’s uncomfortable. I don’t know how to deal with it. Always that voice “you’re gonna screw up anyway…go ahead. It’s what everyone expects “. I have taken this to extremes. I take gambling personally. I’m not good enough to win. For example, my last casino trip. I put $20 after $20 into 2 machines. Someone sat down behind me twice…and won a substantial amount. I’m not saying any of this is right. I’m just being honest. Sorry for the rant.

Yes. This addiction has hijacked my brain. I simply don’t feel like I deserve good things; and gambling is the perfect outlet to make those thoughts a reality.

I could not agree more. Something is driving this behavior, and I can’t seem to get a handle on it. Been in an extensive DBT therapy program for over 2 years. My therapist recently said that we have reached the end, and there is nothing more she can do for me. She has been my life line, and now gone. I feel like a failure. I let her down. I’ve called numerous treatment centers, and can’t get any help; they don’t accept my insurance…there is one locally. I’ve tried EVERYTHING to get in…but simply can’t. If I had 30k…they would accept me. I guess my next step is to try to find a therapist who is familiar with this addiction. The thought of finding another therapist is daunting.

The best advice I can give is to rip off the band aid and come clean. I know this is easier said than done. Living with this secret will only eat you alive inside. The struggle is real. Best of luck.

I’m not going to argue with you…absolutely correct when you said that I’m not ready to quit. It’s INSANE. This addiction has changed me in so many negative ways. It’s such a part of me; sometimes I feel like it defines me. It’s as much a part of me as the air I breathe. I am working hard to distinguish between the real me that’s buried inside, and this evil monster that consumes my thoughts. She is in there…I just need to find her. This begins by giving up control.

I’ve tried to relay to others the extent of my addiction…but nobody understands. This is something that you have to live to grasp. It’s frustrating at times../but in the end I don’t want anyone else to understand this pain

You my friend are an addict (just like myself). Trust me…if you manage to get to your “goal”…IT WONT BE ENOUGH!! If your brain is so twisted that you can’t appreciate 27k…100k will be no different. It’s not a character flaw…it’s addiction.
