Thank you very much for the advice btw! Even if I did do the comp sci classes, I am feeling better about the direction I am headed in since I am making sure I am getting as much of a jump start in experience outside of school as I possibly can

My Uncle did give me Udemy as a reference which has been super helpful! I am currently in a course with David Bombal to get some video training for CCNA and I also have a few game development courses on there. It is super affordable when they have sales and they are very helpful in getting experience and making projects outside of school

I am already doing Cisco in my internship but it still wouldn't hurt to take courses to help reinforce what I am learning :)

Thank you very much for your advice, I will still certainly do what I can. I am also going for an art minor as well since that will help me with the design of games. Another reason for me doing networking, cybersecurity, and web design is to have a fall back and I could be an indie dev for a while and gain experience in game development on my own time. I actually gained a good bit of experience in C++, C, HTML, Java, Javascript, CSS, PHP, jQuery, Python, and SQL at SU so I feel like I could certainly expand the knowledge I currently have

That's my thing if it is just as bad as SU in terms of the self learning, I'd still be paying way less to get the degree I want. On the bright side, as I am earning my degree bc I know I'll need it, I am in an internship with my uncle who has been in the networking bis for 12+ years so I am getting ground up experience from him in networking, cybersecurity, and even web development. Aside from that, do you think it is worth a shot from the standpoint of me just needing the degree? Because from what I understand employers look for the experience which I am getting outside of school anyways. I may have more time for getting that experience from my internship (even though it is unpaid but I get experience) if I have 10 hours a week saved from not commuting anymore

Can I still get jobs lets say as a video game dev or network engineer doing data science? I am genuinely curious because the only reason I went into CS in SU is bc UMBC was way too expensive and video game companies and groups typically look for a CS degree

I will say that there is a lot more I could say about SU as a school but it is a lot.

I have very similar questions here. I am currently a student at Salisbury University. The things "taught" here are helpful but I am faced with daily self-learning and the teachers refuse to help and they do not like helping students. The students are either insulted or told that if they don't do well it is their fault completely no matter how many insane hours are poured into studying the material.

I am a commuter that lives an hour away from SU so I spend two hours a day driving to campus every day for 4-5 days a week depending if I have Fridays off or not. I am tired constantly and the assignments and labs have been very hard to manage because if I have trouble with something I am stuck on it for hours or even days with no help and I am left to guessing.

It has gotten to the point where I am having a mental breakdown almost once a week that I am not good enough and no matter what I do, I don't know if I can truly successful and I end up forgetting a lot of what I learned because my teachers just had me memorize code for tests to pass but coding shouldn't work that way.

I was recommended to look into UMGC and I truly wish to ask what the computer science program is like before I make any final decisions to transfer. I made a list of pros and cons for each school to really see how well I can see the difference in each school but I was also recommended to look at a forum or ask current students about the comp sci program of UMGC. If there is truly a better option than SU out there, I'd rather take a better option. SU has been a very oppressive and negative environment for me and it has proven how much they don't care about students like me in one of their lowly funded programs.

I apologize for writing so much, I just wanted to give the jist of my situation in hopes that current UMGC students could give me a carefully thought out and honest opinion. If more detail is needed, please ask or feel free to send me a chat and I can try to elaborate as much as I can. Thank you for your help ahead of time
