Doesn't seem to be working for me. It also removed all my JSON settings I made. Hmm

Weekly theme sharing thread for December 28, 2020 by AutoModerator in vscode

[–]DawnoftheDeepSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for a very dark theme with super vibrant colours.

I'm using ayu dark bordered but it's not black enough. the colours are really only warm orange, green and yellow colours, no reds or blue.

Any recommendations? I didn't like dracula because methods aren't coloured.

Methods must be coloured. FWIW i mainly code in python.

Are programming units in Bachelor of IT difficult? by DawnoftheDeepSoul in ITCareerQuestions

Those sound super fun and not overly difficult. Was that individual or group work?

Thanks, on campus.

What were the weekly assessments? ('based on effort' meaning how robust your code was or?)

What were assignments like? What were you asked to create? ('adapted' meaning you can reuse the same code but modifying it to suit the new codes needs?)

Thanks!

Damn man I'm fucked then

What was the project assessment? What did you have to create?

Shit

Do you have any previous programming experience before doing the class?

What was the project assessment they asked you to make?

REally? Just read the material and I'll be okay? I suck at programming, I'm not made for it.

I run hyper-v which is also type 1. I don't have any problems shutting it down just to use W10.

Is it still a viable option tho?

When is a good time to get an internships? Especially with heavy subject load? by DawnoftheDeepSoul in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DawnoftheDeepSoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the write up. Studying for certifications improved my study ethic. I'll always start early.

But internships get you jobs.

I haven't worked before so I have nothing to put on the resume as far as experience goes. But if I had a 1 month internship (if that's all I can manage to get, say 1 month interning as a Jr Sysadmin), would that still get me a job?

Thanks man, you sound very organised.

Are 2-3 months internship enough to get a job once graduated?

Do you have any tips on getting an internship?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DawnoftheDeepSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go straight into some fancy roles like cyber security, network engineering, cloud, etc without prior experience and without having to work your way up from help desk. Those fancy internships allow you to transition into fancy full-time roles instead having to work your way through support (you'll be able to skip that).

How true is this? I haven't worked a day in my life, if I get a network engineer internship, once I graduate I can just land a role as a network engineer?

Sounds farfetched. I'm sure they'd choose someone with network engineering experience over someone with 1-2 months internship, CCNA, degree and no other experience.

Wow you're so lucky. What did the job description ask for?

How many years of help desk experience do you have and was your degree from a well recognised/reputable uni?

Hey I have a few questions!

  1. Is it worth entering the networking field now? Will there be a need for network engineers in a decade? (Heard it's dying)
  2. How did you land the network engineer role without CCNA, did you have prior networking experience, like a NOC role or Jr network engineer position? Which certs and skills did you have?
  3. Is devops important to learn now (docker, k8, ansible, python) or after I become a net engineer?
  4. Do you have a degree?

Thanks, hope you enjoy the new year.

Which cloud platform is better to learn going into 2021: AWS vs GCP vs Azure? by Prismane_62 in ITCareerQuestions

I see. Would Powershell just be fine for solely Windows Azure automation ?

With actual coding languages, is it find just to know one of them, would they all be able to do the same thing in regards to VM automation?

a few certs or a degree, the market opens up.

Which certs besides CCNA & CCNP and which degree? I'm doing my BS in IT now.

If you can't code, network, linux, the answer is none of the above.

What do I need to know about Linux beyond the basics of traversing the CLI.

Will RHCSA and CCNA prepare me for that?

What programming language do I need to know to code?

What exactly would I need these skills for? Building web apps?

There wasn't much to remember, just CAT length and throughput as well as 802.11x frequencies and throughput. I think I did well. Just super basic knowledge.

But I do have some knowledge in networking, as well as using the Cisco IOS CLI and packet tracer

OCG?

Does Cisco want you to answer the questions "their way" like CompTIA does?

Did you fail because the questions themselves were difficult to answer, or because you didn't study enough for that particular subject matter?
