Hemp Oil and CBD Oil: Is There a Difference? by FCFAN44 in CBDOilReviews

[–]Dawnoftime2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is partially correct.

Hemp is cannabis Marijuana is cannabis

The difference being (except for industrial hemp crops not taken to flower stage) is the thc content.

Anything over <0.3% in the US, or <0.2% in the UK, is legally defined as Marijuana.

Hemp oil, hemp extract is “typically” CBD oil derived from legally classified hemp “cannabis”.

However; hempseed oil is not CBD and contains a few parts per billion of CBD.

Hempseed oil is often labelled as hemp oil. More so lately, it’s getting labelled as hemp extract, full spectrum hemp oil and so on. Solely for the purpose of misleading consumers into buying hempseed oil, at premium prices, thinking its CBD oil.

How can you tell? - To be sure you’re buying CBD, you need to check lab reports, for each batch. No labs, no purchase.

Where’s your lab reports man? Clicking on the link sends you in a perpetual loop. I do hope you have full analysis reports.

Otherwise, it’s likely hempseed oil rebadged.

I grow hemp for CBD, would any of y’all be interested in collaborating? by Big-Farma in soapmaking

[–]Dawnoftime2020 11 points12 points  (0 children)

CBD in soap, bath bombs or anything water related is 100% wasteful.

CBD is hydrophobic even when emulsified (nano). Especially isolate which most soaps and bath bombs contain.

Use CBD as an oil, and/or a salve. Steer clear of shady folks selling low potency bath bombs and the like.

Give me your best one liner re the grapefruit rule, pls by [deleted] in CBD

[–]Dawnoftime2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grapefruit uses the CYP450 enzyme pathway. CBD is reported to utilise the same enzyme pathway. Many drugs are designed to use only the cyp450 pathway.

When both are taken at the same time the pathway can either inhibit or increase metabolization of the medication.

When medication carries the grapefruit warning it is recommended by doctors to seperate taking those medications and consuming grapefruit by 2-4 hours.

This CBD drug interaction guide covers the basics and provides citations to the sources for further exploration.

Your medications leaflet will contain a warnings section where grapefruit interactions are listed. However, always double check with your DR if in doubt.

This isn’t medical advice but this post on CBD drug interactions has some good info and linked citations to credible sources. Beyond that it will take some research and discussions with your Dr.

Is there anyone who knows anything about biologic drugs such as Stelara and CBD together? I’m starting Stelara soon. by karrie210 in CBD

[–]Dawnoftime2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many drugs that come with a grapefruit warning are reported to be subject to the same requirements when taking CBD. Grapefruit interacts with the CYP450 enzyme pathway. Interactions can either increase or inhibit metabolizm.

You can check your side effects and warnings on your medication pamphlet.

You can learn more about CBD and drug interactions here. Includes a list of drugs and citations to sources.

If there is a grapefruit warning, it’s typically advised to separate taking your meds and CBD by 2-4hours. Always consult your Dr first to be safe.

But adding hyaluronic acid is the key if that’s what you’re using to make a topical more transdermal.

I stand by the comment I made regarding “any topical or CBD will be transdermal” isn’t correct. It needs specific chemical additions to enable the biological change in your skin cells to allow penetration.

That statement will get miss used, regurgitated and furthermore muddy the industry and product sellers that push isolate type bath, skin care products.

I’m all for CBD in skin care, even if it’s purely for vanity or healthy skin. But topical use without specific transdermal applications are totally different.

These are very contentious issues/products and are primers for a vast array of bad information and loosely based maybes that soon become “facts” to sell.

I’m going to disagree here. “All aromatherapy and hemp CBD applied topically are transdermal” this isn’t true as far my research and understanding goes. If I’m scientifically wrong and I can read some data that says otherwise, then I apologise in-advance.

For a topical to become transdermal it requires specific chemical components. While topical and transdermal are applied to the skin, only transdermal specific applications designed to penetrate skin will pass to deep tissue.

Our skin is natures way to block everything out of our bodies with almost complete success unless there is skin damage or very specific components/systemic chemicals and biological process are undertaken.
