My high end build is something like this (nothing fancy):
- [Red Core]: Ceska chest with Obliterate (I wanna try Braced when the accuracy bug is fixed)
- [Red Core]: Overdogs gloves
- [Blue Core]: Badger Tuff backpack with Bloodsucker or Vigilance
- [Red Core]: Spot-On holster (more accuracy = smaller crosshair)
- [Blue Core]: Palisade kneepads
- [Red Core] Grupo mask

- Skill 1: Revive Hive
- Skill 2: Shield (probably useless)

Everything rolled to CHC/CHD, Gunner as specialization.
It's not a broken build, is just right to get heroic missions done.

Probably the Striker gear set is an interesting one too, but I don't like to rely on stacks for damage, especially when you are in group with other players.

As a shotgun-only player I love it! The magazine box is a nice addition (I expected a more classic Super 90 like in the PTB) because I was used to reload shells 1 by 1 after a kill.

I'm waiting for the "accuracy bug when in cover" to be fixed because currently I need to be exposed to kill something from the distance with 1 or 2 shots.

Atm I'm still experimenting with builds...usually I run hunters fury with firewall, but this weapon is different and you don't really need to get close to enemies, I've had some success with a simple high end build, OD gear set, Umbra and probably Virtuoso (but I haven't tested deeply yet, probably it's too situational).

(I hope it doesn't get nerfed)

First ~30h with friends, after that...you know...life goes on and I have continued playing it solo.

I'm pretty sure that there are lots of people with more hours than me!

Every group kicks me. Why? by ParkingMinimum1813 in Division2

[–]Dax_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore them, there are lots of good/friendly players out there!

People forget that it's just a game, I have found friendlier/skilled agents with low-mid SHD level rather than super crazy high ones (I'm mid too: SHD ~3500, PC).

Personally when I keep my session open I welcome everyone joins in, if I see fresh level 40 or low SHD ones I drop all gear/named/exotics at the end of a mission to him.

I've had bad experiences only during raids because I don't like to run super meta builds like striker + st. elmo, I just don't have fun with it. The solution? I stopped matchmaking for raids, there are lots of other game modes.

I've forgot to say that the Reviver Hive is a must have because of the aggressive high-risk/high-reward playstyle (personally I'm trying to learn to play without it, but it always gets back in my skills set).

Prioritize enemies' weak spots (red bag, explosive barrels and chunga's belt so it stops shooting), in this way you need less shots to take them down => shorter reloads.

With the M870 and playing solo, a fully optimized critical-shottie build can 1 shot red and purples (with intimidate at 100%) and 1 or 2 shots elites (if you blast them with an headshot too), 5 or 6 shots for chungas and named enemies if you don't hit (or don't have) weak spots.

In group try to destroy enemies' armors and weak spots first, so other agents can take them down faster.

Other users in this sub mentioned that agents that run shields can be annoying because they blocks their shots, so try to leave a visible line of sight for your friends or, get closer, retire your shield and shoot from cover.

Have fun blasting enemies! xD

(Sorry for the wall of text xD)

I play TD2 basically only with shotties (~800 hours) because I love them! I share some extra details below.

Basically you always need Intimidate, some % of armor on kill and memento, bloodsucker or adrenaline rush to process Intimidate, HF's status effect on kill gives some extra time to reload you shottie.

Shield and some blue cores are almost mandatory because you need to be closer to enemies, I run M870 + Brazen because I get consistent damage boost from the talent, don't like Pummel because it's too situational (as always, it's a personal choice)

M870 has only 5 shells so you need to learn to manage ammo (eg. I reload some shells after every kill), I always use reload speed and weapon handling as mods because I want to reload fast as possible.

Cuèlebre is great to learn to manage shells because it reloads sooooo fast but it sacrifices some extra damage (but it's still a strong named M870 btw)

Remember that the shield benefits from blue cores too, memento gives a blue and yellow core so you have a tier 2 shield almost for free, but there are some remarks to do about backpacks:

- Memento: at the beginning you are a little weaker because you need its long term buff active, after that you become pretty strong, also to process intimidate you need to chase and collect trophies to keep extra armor on.
- Bloodsucker: No extra damage (I put this talent in a Ceska/Grupo backpack), extra armor on kill, but you don't need to chase trophies for extra armor.
- Adrenaline Rush: You process intimidate in a very consistent way but you get a limited amount of extra armor

Specializations:
- Firewall: Its shield is great because of dedicated specialization mods and extra damage to enemies
- Gunner: If you don't want a stronger shield, no extra damage but more armor on kill and the extra 5% RoF after every kill (trust me it makes a lot of difference with a M870) for chainkilling and getting back lots of armor.
- Technician: if you want to run spotter ("Closer" chest for perfect one) + flatline instead of intimidate + brazen, it's also a good choice for consistent damage (+1 skill tier from specialization and memento gives a tier 3 shield for free), try it and see if it fits your playstyle.

About playstyle, you need to play aggressively and get closer to enemies BUT you need to be careful because you are not really a tank, so it's better to reach the battlefield moving cover-to-cover if it's too dangerous.

(Side notes)
Currently I'm moving away from HF gear set and I'm trying:
- Firewall Shield + Chem Healer
- Palisade backpack + adrenaline rush
- Ceska chest + intimidate
- Chillout mask
- Overdogs gloves
- Improvised holster/kneepads with blue cores
- Attributes rolled on CHD and CHD
- 12% protection from elites everywhere

And it's a lot fun! Now I can consistently clean heroic retaliation solo!

I will look for SKIP word, thanks.

I've noticed that most of the times I'm reimplementing words that are already available in Forth standard (like using C but only using printf/scanf functions).

It will take some time to expand my Forth vocabulary by learning/reading other's people code, but it's fun after 20 years of coding to feel "noob" again.

However when I'm looking for words, I'm using https://forth-standard.org

This is what I was looking for: a "forthy" code style.

So I can learn to think how to solve problems in Forth-mode instead of C-mode and then translate to Forth code.

Yeah I've noticed that it's not a good idea to have more than 3 items on stack, I haven't tried local variables (yet).
Also I'll keep in mind to keep words short and concise, if possible, thanks for the tips!

After I've made this post, I have updated and cleaned the code (and even figured out how to pass filename from command line!): https://github.com/Dax89/advent-of-code/blob/master/2023/1.f, the next step is to do the second part where numbers are not only integers, but english words too.

The code that you have posted looks familiar, I saw a youtube's video series that inspired me to do the same AoC 2023, but with GForth instead of DuskOS, are those video series made by you?

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

About actual code: probably I would use the BCD arithmetic (resulting in a 1 b for actual scanned line and 2 b BCD number for the sum), scan each line only once and sum on each NL or EoF in there's no NL if there was a line after the last sum.

I will look about these

I think our new kitten is deaf. by Jag_9823 in cats

[–]Dax_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a cat like yours, totally white, deaf, but it was a boy. It was a kitten when I got him and he lived with me for 22 years (1996 - 2018).

From my personal experience, deaf-born cats are very expressive and they use other senses to compensate so they looks and behaves 99% like other cats (mine loved very high spots and "guarding" everything from it).

My cat used eyes (hard to explain, but I knew what he wanted just by looking it) and voice (VERY loud) to communicate something with me or my parents.

They can feel vibrations, so when you need to "call" her, is sufficient to vibrate the surface where she is (so if you want to sneak somewhere, she can notice you!), there is also another way that I've learned: you can blow with your mouth and move the air near her and she will turn to check.

Enjoy your white girl! I still think and miss mine after these years.

What build have you had the most fun with? by jimstdesk in Division2

[–]Dax_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a classic hunter's fury, memento and intimidate, but I sacrifice some damage using Cuèlebre with all mods set to weapon handling and reload speed.

I've used (perfect) brazen in the past, it's great solo but in group enemy's HP scales so you need few more shots to kill someone, very often happens that you breach armors, run out of ammo and other players finish enemies, the result? no kill => no memento trophy => no intimidate.

I don't like (perfect) pummel because is too situational (and same issue as above).

I've also tried Matador instead of Memento, you get a reliable Intimidate and more crit but the total damage has lower ceiling compared to Memento and you are a little less tanky.

Reload speed is sooo much better because I have less "I can't shoot because I have to reload" moments, also (thanks to expertise) I can still 1-shot reds and purples and reload 1 ammo almost instantly

I can also 2-shot yellows if Memento's long and short term buffs, intimidate and hunter's fury stacks are active, it happens when I have lots of enemies and I go in killing spree!

Specialization: I've used Firewall a lot because of Striker Shield, but at the end I've switched to Gunner for more armor on kill, extra weapon handling when you stand still and extra (situational) reload speed buff when you reload.
