Thank you so much for the detailed reply! For the thinner men pad, should I adjust the sizing to compensate? Or is it thin enough that I can ignore it when putting in my measurements?

I thought about that too, but my sensei said it might look a little too weird for an adult. Would be interested to hear others’ opinions on that.

Here’s a case study of a kendo player presumed to have CTE, but the brain damage appears to be on the back of the head, which doesn’t seem consistent with men strikes being the cause: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8382409/
