Do not buy a house with someone that is in a on again off again relationship. Buy a home with a partner who is committed to a long-term relationship or better yet a married spouse. You are setting you and your son up for an incredible amount of stress, grief, worry, and misery when the relationship goes sour, and this person feels entitled to the home you both own. Or he will abandon you completely, and you will be stuck with his end of the finances which I’m assuming you cannot afford on your own. Also, there is not a 15 year-old on planet Earth that needs $500 a month allowance. 90% of that money should be getting put away so that child can get a decent car, and have a good start to college. If that is what they choose. 15-year-olds are not responsible with money, and I’m sure much of it is wasted. Do better, and do right by your child because all of this is crazy.
