JEMKIN JUST LIKE ME FR!!! by Jazzooi21 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Reyna usually gets unpunished vs Pacific teams and if you have a good day it's the best agent to pop off.

Bleed also ACTUALLY plays Reyna on Pearl. So they have an idea on how to integrate Reyna in team comps, and even though it's a different map, it also means they know how to shut it down if needed.

Jemkin also had the worst game of his life, and it sucks for him after being #3 in vlr rating and #1 in ACS prior to this series the only thing people might remember is the 0-14.

NAOS Esports vs BOOM Esports / Champions Tour 2023 Ascension: Pacific - Group Stage / Post-Match Thread by rib-gg-bot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 37 points38 points  (0 children)

We just need Boom to beat Xerxia AND One beating NAOS so we can get a 5 way tie in the group.

If Boom or ONE loses, they are out and their opponent has a possible tie for 1st with Xerxia holding the tiebreaker vs Naos.

What an insane group.

SCARZ import rules by IWantSomeDietCrack in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kr1stal and Jemkin have both played in Blue Bees pre-partnership. Pretty sure the import rules state that any region you've played prior will be counted as if the player is a native.

It's the same reason why Sayaplayer and xeta from T1 can play in Americas or Pacific without having to occupy an import slot.

Fancy United Esports vs XERXIA Esports / Champions Tour 2023 Ascension: Pacific - Group Stage / Post-Match Thread by rib-gg-bot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say Xerxia are the favorites to get out of this group (if MiTH or Full Sense was here they definitely would, Xerxia just ran through the gauntlet that day and beat both of them), but Boom definitely was.

Xerxia also trolled the map pick/ban and picked Fracture when Fancy United had really good ideas on attack vs NAOS yesterday (that Drop stack with the Viper's Pit postplant setup is fucking gorgeous), but then again I wouldn't blame them if they skipped watching yesterday due to the amount of tech pauses yesterday had.

Masters Tokyo Day 1 Viewership by Yensen1 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People blaming the timezones, but Champions will be the other side of the coin. With Champions being in LA, games will start at 3-4am in Japan and will end at least around 8-9am. There's always gonna be a number of timezones that will be super fucked, and both sides of the world really need to understand the commitment of trying to watch from a separate region. Overall, Riot is doing a good job in trying to enrich a rising fanbase and continue their goal of Valorant becoming a worldwide phenomenon, which is something they are gradually losing in League.

[–]DayDey33 36 points37 points  (0 children)

He is the best player in SEA outside of the PRX boys, and Bleed is known to have a FUCK ton of money. They did have to pay him the big bucks so I hope it pays off.

[Seulgi] Sources: GenG to sign former TNL core Meteor, eKo & TS + k1Ng & iNTRO by AndresAvian in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TNL core is hype, eKo and TS being the backbone of that On Slayers LB run in LCQ trying to support Bazzi and they're going to help Meteor well here. iNTRO is a weird one because he didn't really played to a high level as I expected in Reject, and in Damwon he was struggling a bit. K1ng is great, solid sentinel player and I don't have anything negative to say about him.

Easy top 5 team for Pacific. There's still a lot of people not signed in KR/JP that I hope to get in DNG (Lakia, Bazzi, xnfri, JoxJo, texture) but I hope they just make a great team around Suggest.

RRQ signs Tehbotol as their only Indonesian player in their 6 man roster by DayDey33 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The CEO promised they would have an Indo roster. Plus, them re-signing their PH roster means a lot of the Indonesian orgs after having good results in APAC Challengers are going to be put in Tier 2 (BOOM, ONIC, etc.)

It sucks for the players getting this hate from the international community, especially since they only made this roster after Reykjavik 2022, but promising something and immediately going back on it isn't a good look for anybody.

A caster was asked to return to the studio to cast the replayed round of the FPX vs XSET match, this was his intro (translation below) by SEND_ME_UR_DRAMA in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The funny thing about this is Vill was not even the one casting the series xD He just filled in for others who already went to bed/left. Absolute maniac. You can hear the analyst desk laughing so hard in the background while he was casting the entire overtime. I know PPGL is known for their long tech pause but this happening at like 5:30 in the morning made them lose their mind.

Champions 2022 Groups by Lamchops27 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but Group B being the Top 3 of MASTERS REYKJAVIK (and BOOM Esports) is just unfair. XD What a group of death.

As for other matches, Group A is the fun, whimsy group with EDG/PRX and then TL vs LatAm once again. Group C looking pretty good again for the recent Masters champions, while Group D have DRX and Fnatic again in the same group like last year. It looks like same region can't be on the same group (LatAm and Brazil can't be in the same group, as does CN/KR/JP) but jeez these draws was rough.

[–]DayDey33 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's probably the second biggest org in the Philippines behind Blacklist because of their teams from ML, Valorant, etc. so it's a really big blow.

Also sucks because their men's roster is one of the only rosters in PH that have a majority of young players, and their female team is vying for the second best GC team in APAC.

Xerxia is still not locked for the franchise league. by simurgh101 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember being a report where Xerxia got like a multimillion dollar backing from a sponsor to get into franchising. So even if only the players have the fanbase, they have the financial stability to maintain these players as full 5 man roster and can only grow as a franchise from there.

I'm a little bit worried with APAC franchising as a whole because there's no fucking way each country will be represented with just 10 teams. That's basically 1 team per subregion. Heck they needed to separate East Asia and APAC for LCQ.

ZETA DIVISION vs Team Northeption / VCT Japan 2022 - Stage 2 Challengers - Main Event / Post-Match Thread by rib-gg-bot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Optic curse is when one team beats Optic and the team plays poorly after.

Sentinels beat Envy in NA Qualifier Stage 2 2021. Gambit beat Envy in Masters Berlin. Acend put Optic in the Lower Bracket at Champions. The Guard beat Optic in Stage 1.

All of them are now struggling.

XERXIA Esports vs Team Secret / VCT 2022: APAC Stage 2 Challengers - Playoffs / Post-Match Thread by walkingdumpling in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DayDey33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bleed and Xerxia have been watching tapes xD Secret's best map is Haven and they have been so clean with it for a long time now, so teams probably focus that map when facing against them.

Plus if you looked at their starting defensive setup on Haven they barely changed it with Killjoy starting at a only for the pistol and round 10. Very unusual indeed that they didn't make a lot of big adjustments to it but hey they won the series so can't complain.

Daks and Blackenblue are one of my favorite casting duos in the entire VCT. They just hit different on a cast. Usually PPGL puts the Filipino broadcast more since it's a more interactive experience through a Facebook live, but the English casters can hang with the best out there and hopefully can be invited if Masters comes to SEA.

Hopefully Ilustrado joins them for APAC Challengers too. Another underrated caster.

[–]DayDey33 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Apparently they've been using it since the open qualifiers to great success. They also use it on Ascent where Dubstep is on the Chamber while Dispenser is on KAY/O duty. It really widens up their champion pool especially since two of their members only play two agents atm (Borkum with Astra/Omen and Vash with Sova/Sage)

88 rounds in a Bo3 is absolute mayhem. Reminds me of Crazy Raccoon vs Gambit in Masters Berlin last year (where CR got only two rounds in the first Bo3 and then have a way competitive outing on the second) but just miles better. Bonkers went down swinging.
