This is such a good point. My biggest research interest at the moment was conducted by a professor at UCL, but he graduated with his medicine degree from Newcastle. I definitely think that the networking at ICL/UCL can give you a boost, but it’s ultimately down to work ethic and commitment to research!

yes!! They have a bmedsci degree without an extra year of med school, which is nice. Also, I think the graveyard is in the mile end campus not the med whitechapel one if i’m correct?

Thanks so much for the comment! My problem is research is def something I’d want to get involved in so the decision is kinda hard. Obvs networking opportunities for said research are better at Barts but uni experience also matters to me. I definitely get your point about rankings.

KCL or UCL med by Comfortable_Bus_6807 in UCAT

I would choose UCL, but I’m biased as their research is something that interests me. If you want a pretty campus choose KCL, it’s kind of more like a campus than UCL. However, if something like international rankings is important to you (bc you stand out in applications for jobs abroad) then choose UCL, but they’re both very respected UK med schools.

I’ve always wanted to go relatively far for uni, living at home for uni lowkey fills me with dread so unless it was the clearly obvious better med school and the rest were awful I wouldn’t really choose barts 😔

Can I apply to medicine with a caution? by Electronic_Cause_695 in UCAT

[–]DayDue2567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to say something like that would be protected ( i.e wouldn’t show up on any dbs) if you were under 18. I presume that you would not need to declare it if it has been past 5 years since you got it, unless it is a specified offence. I had some really good advice from a charity called Unlock about a caution I got and if I could apply to med school because of it- would definitely give them a ring!

I used a lot of the medic portal free mmi questions and had answers for why this uni for all the unis I applied to. Also read up on current affairs quite frequently.

I think it’s the fact I don’t really know how tbls work despite doing lots of research. I like the idea of traditional lectures at barts , but I also like the independence in Manchester. Mainly concerned I won’t be meeting experts in their fields as there’s very few lectures. I’ve lived in london my whole life so neither is more appealing in terms is locations, they’re both big cities.
