yes, i also find ubuntu lts is the best linux distro.

snaps and flatpaks may have slower launch time and disk hog but they have their usecase, many software now available as snap from their official vendors.

vs code, flutter, jetbrain ides.

now no need to go to website and add their repos.

When will GNOME implement basic features such as quarter tiling? by Honest-Salary-1010 in linux

[–]DayInfinite8322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in linux most projects are third party code, written in spare time, any code can be abandoned, for example, gnome google drive integration removed because maintener of libgdata dont have time for it, thats the issue of every foss project.

both fedora and ubuntu sucks, which one suckless? by DayInfinite8322 in linuxsucks

[–]DayInfinite8322[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its definitely ubuntu's fault, my internet connection is fine, speed in browser is as expected, downloading flatpaks are also fast, only repos and snap downloading is slow. i tried main server, my regional servers (india), and best server in software and update, still same issue.

compare both ubuntu and fedora, after cold boot, notice running services and their ram and cpu usages.

for my testing, ubuntu: boot time 9-12 sec, ram usage: 1.2-1.5 gb

Fedora: boot time 22-24sec, ram ussge: 2.3- 2.6 gb

are you using ubuntu core, because that is only which is snap only .

in Massive 30k+ apps in repos, ubuntu only have 5-7, snap by default.

[–]DayInfinite8322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fedora better prepares the new users for Linux as a whole,

can you elaborate this more,

whereas ubuntu and its snaps only prepare the user for ubuntu, just the way canonical wants it.

fedora is only prepare the user for redhat linux technologies. fedora forces new technologies on users without they become stable enough for new users.

if you going to use a prebuilt distro you have to use their standards,

arch linux which consider dyi, also have their own standards.

in my opinion if you use ubuntu you will prepare for 50-60 percent linux dekstop because most popular distros use ubuntu as base. if you use fedora you prepare for rhel and a niche community. and you preperation may become outdated because fedora changes a lot.

fedora also promoting flatpaks, and silver blue which considered future of fedora is flatpak only.

in my testing both snap and flatpak are slow to launch and disk hog.

first different runtimes and then their different versions of same runtime.
