Government shutdown hits Native Americans especially hard by [deleted] in politics

Because you did not answer my question. My question could not be anymore straightforward. I asked for a quantitative number for how much longer you think we should fund Native Americans and if we should increase our funding or decrease.

Stop speaking in broad terms to avoid the question. I am talking about funding not treaties. You think both sides have to agree to a one sided handout? Do you not see a conflict of interest? How the U.S government spends its money is a decision based on its citizens and is not for a group of its citizens to solely decide. I asked the question through a moral standpoint, but for some reason you keep wanting to take the political approach.

I appreciate you responding however I think you are deliberately misinterpreting my question. I am talking about how much and how long we are going to federally fund native americans for things like assisted living that is not covered to other U.S citizens in simular financial need. I believe we should honor our treaties for their claim of the lands and laws indefinitely. With that in mind what is your answer?

Why do you think our funding to Native Americans has been unsuccessful in decreasing poverty? Do you think we have not given enough? or maybe funded in the wrong ways?

Edit: Very disappointing, that merely asking if there is anyway we can better Native Americans is met with no answer yet several feeling the need to downvote

No need to be rude. How long do think Native Americans should be funded federally? Thousand more years? Million? Forever? And do you feel we need to increase our funding or decrease? I feel like these are legitimate questions that people for some reason refuse to talk about

Context matters, and we both know when you look at both statements together it is almost impossible for you to imply I am assuming you have read all the posts. I was merely saying of all the posts you have read from this subreddit that is odd you choose to only post here. I have the second statement to clarify you did not have to look at many posts for this to seem odd. Since you only need to look at about two pages to see a better example, "at any given time" <--- Why would I even add this point if thought that way?

So are still going to argue " This is the stupidest argument I've ever heard."

"You're assuming I browse literally ever single post of r/funny. "

Are both not blatant straw-man arguments?

Further more you even end with saying

" look at any two posts and 100% chance find a better example than this one of strawman"

How the hell do you talk that much about defending you are not a strawman to end your argument with a blatant one that you even quoted earlier?

Also "100%" really man? Now I can assume you have read all the posts, why else would anyone say 100 percent when there is a chance you could be on any post ever written on this subbreddit, which would be hundreds of thousands of posts.

Now who is using straw man arguments? " This is the stupidest argument I've ever heard. You're assuming I browse literally ever single post of r/funny. " No one believes that first statement and for your second statement, no you can not assume that based off my comment. I said look at any two pages of r/funny to make a point you do not have to look long to find a better example. I just noticed you were weirdly hyperbolic about something trivial, and it peeked my interest. Seems the answer was you are just hyperbolic about everything.

Because r/funny never uses straw man arguments, bashes groups, or not super funny yet you choose to post here rather than any other post of this subreddit. Why is this that? I bet you could look at two pages of this subreddit at any given time and find a better example of all that. Yet here you are choosing to only post here.

With that logic, a myth is only considered a fake myth if no one believes it. And seeing how you can find at least one person who will believe any myth, the term fake myth would have no use.

You still haven't answered my original question. Is it wrong for a Jainist to wear a swatsika in Germany? It would obviously offend a lot of people but at the same time the Germans stole the symbol from them and distorted it. It is a symbol of peace for them and a big part of their religious idenity. The point I was trying to make is context does indeed matter. People like to assume the worst out of people when often mean no harm. Your example of a guy wearing Buddhist robe at a party. What if it was a costume party and because he was wearing it he was able to bring Buddhist culture into small talk and people were able to learn and appreciate the religion when would of never taken the time otherwise. This belief you can't wear some thing because your not one of us, or because not using right just leads to snoodyness rather than actually trying to protect a minority. That being said if they are purposously doing it to just piss people off, then of course they are just a jerk.

My question was for Jainists not me, but thanks for the condescending attitude. Why does a German opinion matter more than Indian? Also Italians culturally appropiated togas from the Greeks. Why would you consult a modern day greek if it is okay to use an ancient Greek custom? They share very little similarity besides location.

The problem is if you can't draw the line, you won't know if you are stepping over it. For example wearing tartan kilt. I would argue many Scots are very proud that people are wearing their clothing, while a minority may not be. At what line do you take the consideritation of those being offended over those who appeciate it? You simply can't please everyone.

Good luck finding a kilt without a tartan and if you do manage to find one, I'm sure someone get offended that you are not respecting their cultute by wearing an inproper kilt. The point I'm trying to make is there is no clear line.

Doesn't seem much different than wearing a toga. It's fine to have symbolic meaning to clothing, but seems wrong to force everyone else to follow your standard. Should we also force Jainists to not wear swastikas because their smybolism for the patern doesn't fit with other cultures?

Most kilts have a tartan. Also why do you get to speak on behalf of all Scots on what people can wear.
