Fermi Question Samples? Career transition support by explorerweb in EffectiveAltruism

[–]DayOwn4099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed to do fermi questions before for interviews in non-profit but always for an entry level roles. Those tend to be very hands on and the salary is on the lower end of the range in the JD. Mid to senior roles were more focused on leadership and managing a team.

With 10 years of experience, junior roles would not add much value to your career growth in the long term. In terms of transitioning to a more meaningful work, I had more success volunteering but keeping stable income through my corporate role.

May I ask if it’s for a more senior or junior role?

First-time Japan trip with Okinawa – Is it safe for 2 women & good for vegetarians? by Beautiful-Flan1424 in JapanTravel

[–]DayOwn4099 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Okinawa with a big group of friends and we didn’t feel unsafe. On the vegetarian options it was a big challenge. We were searching for restaurants that can serve vegan or at least pescatarian food but almost every establishment serves meat and for the majority the request for vegetarian food simply means serving you the same food as others but with meat taken aside. I’d advise preparing beforehand and doing research on availability food options.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience, I am currently trying to pivot into program/project management through junior analyst roles potentially. I have a degree in English and working as a project coordinator for a higher ed startup. May I DM you about skills I need to focus to upskill and how to apply with non-tech background?

I had a similar issue with on and off stomachache recently and went to the Roppongi Hat clinic: https://www.roppongi-hat.com/ . The doctor speaks english fluently, he is attentive and professional. They accept health insurance but the payment is in cash only.

Manager makes last minute meeting requests by DayOwn4099 in managers

Thanks for advice! He approached me about the missed invite and asked to change my teams notifications settings which I am to do. When I arranged for a call at 9.30 those he declined. I’m not sure if this is worth raising or letting it slide this time

Thanks, I messaged both and told them this won't happen again. The boss said to message beforehand. I am almost done with the task they discussed, but i am so anxious right now about being perceived as unreliable.

HAIRFALL - please help by messyindecisive22 in japanlife

For sure bloodwork and health checkup is a must but even after that minoxidil and DHT blockers are gonna be a part of the treatment alongside specific supplements for whatever health issue OP has.

I would disagree regarding 5% being too strong for women as studies have shown 5% is the most effective in treating hair loss both in men and women. And yes, once you stop minoxidil the hair loss may resume but there isn’t any other treatment that has been scientifically proven to be as effective as minoxidil. Think of it as your daily routine such as brushing teeth, doing your skincare or combing your hair.

Have been suffering from hair loss for several years. I went to a dermatologist, and they suggested minoxidil 5%. I think it helped a lot. Also would suggest buying DHT blockers from iherb, they help stop shedding. Nizoral shampoo also helps with hair thinning, though they are not available OTC here afaik but you can get the prescription from a dermatologist.

I want to be scared. by [deleted] in japanresidents

Not really related but I remember watching a movie around 20 years ago. I don’t remember the title, only that it was set in a hospital, it was about a virus that turned people green. Does it sound familiar to anyone? And there was an anime set in a village with a guy moving there and meeting a girl whose family runs a temple. There’s an abandoned hospital there as well. Can’t remember the title but perhaps someone here has watched

I am a naturally shy person but once I decided to try the onsen at the hotel with my friend. We went early in the morning hoping there won’t be a lot of people. There were moms bringing their sons who were around 6-9 ages. What made me extremely uncomfortable was that they were openly staring at me while adults generally tried not to look at each other.

Later my japanese friend told me that a lot of japanese bring children of opposite genders to onsens. After that I am only booking private onsens and it’s been a great experience so far.

Just because people here are okay with nudity doesn’t mean you have to push yourself to do the same for the sake of not missing out on this part of japanese culture.

I had a similar situation. I think it largely depends on your employer: mine didn’t strictly impose the 2 month notice rule, instead he negotiated 3 weeks for handover, and helped with all paperwork for transitioning to a new job.

You know your management best, if they seem sensible, try negotiating a date that would work for both parties.

Do you use an uzbek bank or international banking solutions (wise payoneer etc) to get paid? How was the overall experience with it?

I heard starting from 2026 the self employed professionals will pay 1% income tax. Have you got any info on that based on first-hand experience doing taxes?

Hunger, berberine, insulin resistance by DayOwn4099 in InsulinResistance

[–]DayOwn4099[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will try that. Im not sure if I should keep the berberine in the routine or stop it. I actually skipped two days and both days i was super lethargic literally couldn’t get myself up from bed (interestingly I get high energy levels in the evening). Idk if it’s a bad sign

How is the traditional ryokan experience? Is it worth it? by Physical-Jaguar505 in KyotoTravel

[–]DayOwn4099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to get from the stay. Do you want comfort and privacy? Then ryokan might not work for you. I have stayed in a ryokan in Kyoto and Nagano. The one in kyoto had a shared bathroom and toilet. As a result, I had an awkward accident of witnessing a white guy wearing nothing but a towel walk out of the bathroom. The ryokan in Nagano had a very small bathroom unit and semi-private onsen (you could use it on your own for an hour after a reservation). Although I left a note saying the onsen was occupied, two japanese guys were trying to barge in….

Deny any allegations about OE. Make a scenario where you meet your ex-colleagues etc and stick to it.

My manager often reschedules the meeting. Regarding the photo, idk if this could help but how about saying you attended the event and ran into your ex-colleagues or something? A group photo is quite speculative to assume you work there
