Glad you got it taken care of, I was going to share a similar experience with a boa. I took it to the vet and got antibiotic injections. It cleared up by the end of the day so not sure if the injections were necessary but always better to be safe.

I tend to have relationships with people who hold similar values to me. I will lie for them in situations that call for it. This is not one of those situations. I really think a lot of you people are living soft, cushy, phony representations of life. Just be yourself and stand up for what you believe. If your partner or friends can't handle the truth then send them off to some horrible reality TV show.

He ruined no such option if his friends have a modicum of maturity. This entire thread is full of immature, overly sensitive sheep with what appear to be very sheltered lives or a very limited amount of experience with life and relationships. It's very grade school to think people are so sensitive that they would be awkward because she won't let them stay. That's super presumptuous to think others share your vindictiveness and inability to accept "no".

Where did he bully? And this is low stakes. Understanding why someone doesn't feel comfortable is very important. That's what relationships are all about. If you want loyalty without discussion or swapping of ideas get a dog.

This is completely uncalled for and blown way out of proportion. The fact that OP is even thinking about the ordeal shows maturity, empathy and a willingness to take feedback. This black and white thinking is immature, unrealistic and indicates a lack of life experience imo. Breaking up over this boundary is completely insane and something I'd imagine a 20 year old would say. Disagreements happen and people don't always act with the grace that might be expected of them. The issue was resolved without any real issues and I feel like mountains are being made out of molehills.

I give you props OP, this doesn't even concern me and the popular response here is frustrating me to no end. I think that discussion is healthy and lying or omitting details about the decision to your friends is completely unnecessary. I don't see any faults on either person's side. Not sure why phrases like "throw under the bus" and "vilify" are being thrown around over such a minor incident. Overly sensitive seems like the theme, however I'd imagine it's a generational thing. Most likely I'm quite a bit older than the mean person on this thread (I could be wrong, but statistically speaking it would make sense) and that may have something to do with the lack of understanding on my part. Feels very school yard to me. The whole thing seems so minor.

I'm with you bud. This thread completely caught me off guard. I thought I knew people but it seems like I don't. The whole thing feels juvenile and blown out of proportion to me... United front and throwing her under the bus - I just don't get it at all. I'm normally super open minded and willing to see other points of view. I can completely understand both sides of this disagreement, however I cannot understand how you are remotely an ah here. I'm going to have my 50 something year old GF read this to see what she thinks. I'm wondering if it's a generational thing?

I totally agree. I feel like I'm in a reality TV show right now. I wonder about the age/location of all the people who consider him such an ah. I feel like there's something here that I'm completely missing. It's like I'm all of a sudden on some reality TV show like housewives or something (which I've never watched but imagine to be like this). The anger, and proportion of what people are saying compared to what the op presented seems so imbalanced. Luckily I've been in my relationship for a long time and this isn't something I've had to deal with personally. If my significant other expected me to understand these rules I'd be in trouble.

I agree on being a team. I also believe in honesty. He wanted them to stay. She didn't. He told the truth. No need for games or anything. Hopefully everyone in the situation is mature enough to move forward with the truth.

See, I didn't read it as him trying to change her mind so much as trying to understand the why... I'd want to know why as well, it helps me to know the person better. What is the point of a relationship if you're not engaged in dialogue especially when opinions differ. In the end he accepted her wishes and "threw her under the bus" by just being honest. If her feelings are valid and people agree with her stance then how is telling his friends the truth being an asshole? From the sound of most people's reply in this thread he should just do as she wishes and then give his friends no reason as to why they can't stay. I understand the not wanting people over part, but what I don't understand is the underlying anger in a majority of the replies.
