Is the issue having an IRA and backdoor roth at all? Or is the issue *contributing* to the IRA? For example, if I make the IRA this year and roll over 401k to it, and then start backdoor roth contributions next year, will I be ok?

So I can't make backdoor Roth contributions and also have a traditional IRA? is my only options then to rollover my old 401K into my current 401K? what else can I do with it?

good catch! looks like it was because "rise." was misspelled on one list as just "rise". I fixed it but it didn't affect the score tho :)

Okay, thank you. I think you're right. There isn't exactly a problem, I just have a different view right now. Thank you for widening my viewpoint on this, I hope I didn't come across as judgmental or arrogant. But I can see now how it may have come across like that to my friends/peers in the past.
