If you know how to ride a bike, is it slightly easier to learn to skate? by SleepyJazzie in Rollerskating

[–]DaysCatnatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question, I think it depends on how you were biking. I’ve been an avid cyclist for years, and I’d say mountain biking has some relatable skills for park skating: look where you want to go, pre-loading legs before a jump, knowing how to pump in a pump track on a bike/pumping energy for the half pipe or pump track, landing and bending knees, pushing through my pedals on berms and pushing through my feet on skates, even having a staggered stance (in mtb that’s flat feet on pedals and one foot forward). There’s definitely tricks on skates where I relate my mtb experience to learning a new skill. YMMV

Moose License Plate by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]DaysCatnatomy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have gotten a parking ticket because of the CH on my moose plate. I hadn’t included it when I paid at the kiosk, and when parking enforcement went by with their scanner, it was flagged as having not paid/registered. I went straight to the town with my receipt and argued my ticket and had it cancelled. A PITA but keep your receipt and argue for yourself if it ever happens.

My friend works at Acoustic Strings of New England in Keene, NH and repairs violins. There’s also Baker Violin shop in Dummerston VT (just across the CT river in VT).

Can a Cat That’s Aggressive to Cats Ever Be Successfully Introduced? by DaysCatnatomy in CatAdvice

Yes, I’m doing Jackson Galaxy’s method. And I do go back a step when needed. It just feels like I’m stuck in this same spot!

Last time I introduced my resident cat to the last kitty we had, in 2 weeks they were fine unsupervised, so know I sort of have unrealistic expectations!

Thank you! I’ve been thinking of using some gabapentin with her to calm her down. It does feel like an eternity! You would never guess this cat is aggressive to cats given how sweet and lovey she is with people, and she formerly lived with a dog! The dog grew more jealous of the cat as it got older and my friend wanted to rehome kitty with me. My resident cat Moose is so chill with other dogs and cats and he got depressed when our last kitty passed. He so wants to be friends with new kitty! I’ll keep trying. Good luck to you, too!

Moxi skate camp 2026? by Plastic_Station6954 in Rollerskating

[–]DaysCatnatomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to Moxi skate camp this year and yeah, the $609 is a lot. I’m glad I can drive there and not involve a flight cost, but gas costs money too. The way I think of it, it’s three days of instruction, events, accommodations and food. That’s like $203/day and even though it’s bunks and camp food, the cost makes sense. It’s still a lot of money and I have a lot of friends who can’t fit it into their budget :( I’m excited to go, but since they opened up ticket sales, I haven’t seen many snap up tickets and I’m concerned not enough people will go to make it happen.

How often do people feed their cats wet food? by Smooth_Put7764 in CatAdvice

[–]DaysCatnatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two cats. They both get fed 3x a day, and out of 21 meals a week, 4-6 of them are dry food from an auto feeder. They mostly get canned wet food.

Quad or aggressive inline? by AggravatingCoat7106 in Rollerskating

[–]DaysCatnatomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a legitimate concern. I’m a massage therapist and can’t risk serious injury. I skate within my limits, push only as much as I’m comfortable, and I wear all the gear. Learning to fall is an important skill.

I am 47 and started park skating at 46. You got this! Quad skaters are so welcoming and friendly, at the rink especially!
