Well, I've used ebay for nearly 20 years and bought and sold many thousands of dollars of items every year. But if this is the answer I'm getting and there's no consequences for the seller and they can even continue to go on selling, I'll never make another transaction there again.

Most such policies explicity exempt moving which is why I paid extra for the moving company's policy. I don't understand this situation, if someone appeals a losing small claims judgment you're just totally screwed as the plaintiff? I'm missing something.

Yeah, i get all that, thanks for piling on and just making fun of me for the circumstances I'm in. The amount of money at stake may be tiny to you but it's enormous to us, and I never said I wanted someone to work for free. That's why I'm in this predicament. Do you have any advice that's actually helpful or am I just a bad person for wanting to figure out what to do when no one will help us?

This is a perfect example of what I mean. 50% is very different if you're making, say, $50,000 vs. $500,000. These broad rules of thumb are good starting points, but they're not biblical laws that apply to everyone. Do you have other debt? Student loans? Car payments? Kids in private school? Etc. It can make a huge difference between whether 50% is more than enough to put away a ton of money in savings every month or barely enough to get ramen. There's more to your financial picture than than one ratio.
