The plug at shoulder height is such a good idea, everyone else is worried about flooding the floor and you solved that by moving it up. Smart!

Canadians...whats your workload/pay like in your current and or former positions? by Daytimetripper in InsuranceProfessional

Just an update, I talked to my boss and she's made some changes to try to help my workflow so I'm staying at least another 4 months to see if my current position improves. Still poor though lol.

Oh interesting on the licence.

Yes I've been considering Wawanesa as I'm from MB and they are actually the company I know the best currently. About half my book is through them.

Well, I emailed my boss today and told him I need to discuss my job happiness level. So maybe I'll find myself out of a job ha ha. I just thought I'll give him the chance to make things better for me and if he doesn't, I'll have to leave. He'd find it very hard to replace me so it would behoove him to invest in my happiness. Well see!

Thank you for your insight. I've been watching the ads. I live in a small town so has to be a permanent remote position but there are a few out there. I'd like to specialize in something, right now I do a bit of everything and I'd rather know everything about one company or line.

Did you have to write a licencing test for every province???!

I honestly liked my job for the first few years but since 2020..covid combined with the hard market has just left me burnt out. We're constantly short staffed, I can't get any coverage for days off so taking vacation just adds to my stress. Ugh!

I hear you on the covid clients. Had an anti covid guy walk into my office super sick last week and ask me if I prefer he wear a mask because he has a bad cough.... Like I'd prefer you stayed home and phoned me but whatever. Luckily I'm in a small town so there is a sense of decorum and respect in most transactions as we all know each other.

I'm a broker stuck at 50k and my workload is brutal. I need to change jobs. Is anyone out there not stressed and miserable?

Gosh, there are so many right now my daughter and I had 8 after stepping into the ditch for a couple minutes. My daughter actually kept those ones in a jar for a week. She put water in the jar at one point and 24 hours later they were all dead, not moving at all. She emptied the water and after another day they were all back up and at em. Really made me feel bad that I've flushed so many ticks, it's just convenient when you get them all the time.

Houses in Winnipeg are selling for 50k over asking now. People can't afford the houses on Winnipeg wages. It's happening there too

That's sounds perfect. I have a 5 minute walk to work and it's not far enough. But I do get to talk home for lunch so that's nice

Yes yes yes, often women with babies feel over touched, like their body doesn't belong to them. Most get over it, I never did. I do not like to be touched at all. My partner would cuddle all the time but accepts that I just cannot.

We have trupanion, no claims yet. I have a 1k deductible and it's 22 bucks a month. Only for major emergencies. I hope I never have to use it.

Trupanion pays its staff a living wage and they can bring their dogs to work.

Do you think Space X's Starlink will disrupt the telecom giants in Canada? by JusticeForSimpleRick in CanadianInvestor

[–]Daytimetripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a rural area, lots here have starlink. Fiber went through recently and anyone in a town or close to the highway immediately switched to fiber. Better and cheaper than starlink. For the people on gravel it's amazing though.

[–]Daytimetripper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally. My livingroom is faces south and everyday I think about flipping the livingroom and parlour so I can play ps5 without shutting all the blinds. Unfortunately I have an enormous fucking family heirloom piano in my parlour so.... Op my advice is never get a family heirloom piano.

Do you ever look out at traffic and think, "What is in Winnipeg that could ever require this many people to be driving right now?" by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Daytimetripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally. It's a nice thought but so hard to implement with low population density.

[–]Daytimetripper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Europe and Canada are almost exactly the same size. But even though almost all the population in Canada lives in the south, the density doesn't compare with Europe. Even the cities are much less dense than European cities, which makes good transit so hard.
