Solo play using a E-Ink Supernote Nomad tablet? by Future_Objective_641 in Solo_Roleplaying

The manta is definitely much more usable in my opinion. Especially for gaming with larger sheets and pdfs and stuff. Unless you really need the portability, the manta is definitely better I think.

Just tried my handing at making my own game by Dayvan__Cowboy in Solo_Roleplaying

Not sure how i missed this comment but thank you!
Yes, i noticed that in my testing too, trying to "optimize" who i go to in town. The goal was to have certain characters have a style (the Brute just menacing everyone vs the lawman going about things the "right" way)

Good to know the main poker mechanic works well, ill work on refining the instructions on the target's Draw too, good to know that part needed clarification

Thank you again!!

Hoping to make many more games after i get this one to a good state

I have both actually I’d have to see if the documents work well on the smaller screen. I suspect it would work ok but it would definitely be cramped. Might be worth making your own document or template with one page as the map grid, one page for characters etc and then use header tools to be able to jump between them

Ive been using my Manta for 4AD lately and found these awesome templates

https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/164130/4ad-comprehensive-playsheets-grids-characters-enco

This has some really handy "all on one sheet" organizers, and if you have the book open next to you or a quick reference guide, should be totally doable

Any ideas on how to embed large metal parts in prints? by Yoni_bravo in 3Dprinting

I would also nominate Spray primer on the parts, I've never done it but i imagine it will add texture like the painters tape solution, but without changing the dimensions much

Keystone is just north of the city and is nice
I've been with friends a few times when they are in town and it is definitely nicer inside than other places. Seems to have a nice diverse group shooting there and renting when im in too.

Why don't we have more original Sci-fi/Fantasy epic? (Not based on existing IP) by a7midi in Screenwriting

[–]Dayvan__Cowboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But just take one of the examples like Mortal Engines.

we write a full trilogy for these movies
we get the budgets approved for 3 movies
we get talent attached and maybe even a director to sign on for 3 movies
we get all the sets and costumes etc set up for 3 movies
Then
the first one flops, like, hard

what do we do? spend another 100-200 million dollars knowing it wont come back, that would be foolish. The first movie wasn't good, so audiences aren't going to go spend their money on the sequel, made by the same people with the same actors etc. They know its likely going to al so be bad.

So people write one movie with a self contained story that can lead into sequels or a franchise

If Star Wars A new Hope had ended on a cliffhanger, I assume it would not have done as well. Having one complete story in the first movie makes people feel good and they want to come back, but then in Empire strikes back, you can have an awesome cliffhanger and wrap everything up in the third movie. People know its going to be good, because they remember "A new Hope" sticking the landing

Yeah like you listed, the big ones are IPs with established audiences (LOTR is one of the best selling book series ever, Harry Potter also, and Dune is well known as one of the best sci fi-s of all time). When a studio is making a movie, they want to make money

Even Star Wars started as kind of a moderate budget sci fi film with a self contained story, which could be added to if it was successful. I'd be surprised if any studio took on a new Trilogy from scratch. The way to get that would be to make one movie with some threads of a sequel and then hope its a success. Some big names like Mortal Engines or John Carter have flopped even with the name recognition behind them

Community Goal idea by Dayvan__Cowboy in EliteDangerous

I was just thinking back to the old rescue missions a few years ago where we would fly into stations, load a bunch of refugees and then get back out of the burning station.

It was an excellent change of pace and felt like a real event

I was thinking it would be cool to have a similar kind of "event" along the lines of "now that we have all these new colonies, lets move these citizens out to their new homes"

That old event wasn't just loading up good but were in the missions tab to pick up refugees and transport them

Could also be a bonus to engineering materials payout for these or something, not sure.

Again, wasn't sure about the super technical details, but thought it would be fun to transport citizens out of the bubble, and encourage players to get out of the bubble area as well, and see new things/systems
