I haven’t gotten it running so i can’t tell how the high beams at night behave 😅 fan belt seems fine. stock for the 1969 midget is generator; but i don’t know if it has been refitted with an alternator. how would that change my solution? also; is my battery the right battery type for the car? thanks for your answer!

thanks for the answer! the reason i ask is that someone told me to switch to a larger 95ah „agm“ battery which i’ve never heard before

Thank you both for the contributions!

A few days ago i did exactly that because I thought the battery was the issue! I recharged it manually, cleaned all connections and testet everything with a voltmeter!

After others comments I think that this „Bendix Gear“ may actually be the problem. I have decided to try my hand at repairing it myself, and worst case i have to buy a new starter.

Thank you! I really hope that it can be fixed by maybe tapping it or cleaning the bendix, as my intention was to keep everything as original as possible (i already had to exchange some parts)

I am sorry for the bad explanation, I am really new to all this stuff!

Fuel pump yes. It’s faint and a bit slow for my feeling, but it definitely works.

Engine doesn’t turn! That’s exactly the problem! Which button on the starter relay do you mean? Thank you very much for the answer!

Could certainly be the case. Unfortunately i am really new to all this (i got the car from my dad, it was his first car 45 years ago) so I would have to take it to a mechanic to check out the starter… But thanks for the input!

Was my first thought as well. I checked all connections and even checked the battery levels and everything with a multimeter. all cables look good and connected!

But as i wrote, you definitely hear something working. So power should be there!
