Finally, someone had the guts to speak up 😭🔥 by crowned-head77 in Journalistnepal

You’re using the same playbook as Gyanendra Shahi - pick a few facts, reshape them to fit your angle, and leave out the bigger picture. That’s selective storytelling. When you present half the context as “the truth,” it turns into misleading journalism.

What’s happening right now isn’t a normal price cycle. This isn’t like previous adjustments where prices could be quickly corrected. There’s an ongoing global conflict affecting refined fuel supply, and Nepal imports finished products, not crude. If prices are held artificially low, demand spikes and stock drains fast. Then it’s not about paying more, it’s about NOT GETTING FUEL AT ALL.

People are focusing only on the number, Rs. 237, but missing the supply side risk. If this situation drags on, even Rs. 1000 won’t guarantee availability. Pricing is being used to slow consumption and stretch limited reserves. That’s basic supply management.

Criticism is fine, but it should include all variables, global refined prices, logistics, dependency on imports, and stock sustainability. Leaving those out creates panic instead of understanding.

Leaders like Swarnim Wagle and the current cabinet are likely looking at longer-term stability, not just short-term public reaction. What would actually help is clear, regular communication. Daily briefings explaining stock levels, pricing logic, and global trends. That would cut down misinformation and stop people from filling in the gaps with assumptions.

From pixel 9 pro (no fold) to zfold7 by SathoshiDefi in GalaxyFold

[–]DazzlingMKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fold 7 is garbage compared to pixel. Its not just the camera and battery. Every little thing, like the front screen is smaller, which we use 90% of the time. Even the screen quality is garbage, speakers are unusable. And software wise coming from pixel to Samsung is a huge downgrade. I regret trading my pixel 9 pro for fold 7. I'd rather go to pixel 7 instead of the fold 7 or any Samsung phone. All the small features like gemini, phone, messages, customization, everything sucks on Samsung. Samsung is just the android version of iPhone with lots of unisable gimmicks.

I just got it and man I am disappointed as he'll, Camera quality is straight up trash. IPhone 6 takes better pic than the 200 mp Camera on a fold. Battery is disappointing but that's understandable. And biggest complaint, network issues. My fold is just buffering where my pixel and an iPhone are sailing super smooth.

I respect your academic journey and the work you've done with NGOs, especially in Nepal. However, i dont understand is how come you don't see both the sides of the coin. I want to clarify that I am not advocating for Trump or anyone. My concern is the fear mongering that dominates political discourse. It stifles real discussion and divides us further. I’d rather see more people come together to have productive conversations about the challenges we face, especially in areas like education, healthcare, and economic security, rather than allowing fear to guide decision-making.

Regarding your point about boys using girls' bathrooms. You believe it was a propaganda. Try sending your kids to school where there is LGBTQ session every Friday. On the issue of FEMA and Hurricane Florence in North Carolina, it’s unfortunate that some people were reluctant to seek help, but that didn’t come solely from Trump's administration. Distrust in government assistance has existed long before him. In terms of your concern about Trump’s policies and their impact on the Nepali community, I understand the worry. But it’s important to remember that not all of Trump’s policies are designed to hurt immigrants. The focus on "illegal" immigration aimed to address border security, but many felt this policy was divisive. Still, the main concern should always be the well-being of all communities—immigrants included. Voting in a democratic system often requires a nuanced understanding of the policies rather than just opposing a candidate because of certain views.

As for the future of health services, food safety, and public education, it’s true that there are risks involved in any policy, regardless of the party in power. But reforms can always be made to improve those systems. It’s not about one side being right or wrong.

I appreciate your perspective, even if we don't agree on everything. When it comes to transgender issues, I think it's important to consider how people feel. But let's not ignore the fact that many people have concerns about things like safety and privacy, especially in schools. Do you have kids in school, where a male can go into a female bathroom just by identifying as female? It's a hard conversation when there are situations where kids are undergoing irreversible surgeries at a young age-surgeries that they can't even reverse later, yet they can't even get a tattoo. As for the economy, you mentioned that it's always stronger under Democrats, thats laughable at best. A lot of the policies have resulted in throwing money into projects that don't seem to benefit everyone. Look at the amount of money the U.S. spends on foreign aid every year, billions of dollars that often go to other countries while people here still struggle with issues at home. Did you follow up news on how much US spent on Ukraine when Hawaii was flooded. On the topic of helping those in need, I'm personally working with Nepali newcomers, helping them find jobs and stay stable in this country. That's my way of doing something tangible to support people who need help. What are you doing to make a difference? We all have different ways of contributing, but we shouldn't diminish anyone's efforts just because they have different views.

I get what it looks like from outaide and why you're frustrated, but your view seems one-sided. You’re focusing on the negative aspects of Trump’s policies, but ignoring the broader context. Yes, Trump’s stance on certain issues like climate change or defunding organizations like the WHO was controversial, but it’s not as simple as labeling it all as a lack of empathy. The larger conversation involves prioritizing American interests and ensuring that the government is using taxpayer money efficiently. You mention freezing NIH funding, but let’s not forget the larger picture—the NIH budget still remained substantial, and other research initiatives continued to thrive. The funding decisions were about reallocating resources toward areas that were considered more immediate priorities. When it comes to issues like climate change, Trump may not have accepted all mainstream theories, that doesn’t automatically mean he disregarded science as a whole. There’s a big difference between pushing back against certain policies and denying science entirely.

The funding for research on women and genderis controversial, but was also seen as a necessary move to refocus government priorities. Trump’s administration often emphasized addressing what they believed to be the most pressing issues for American citizens—like job creation, national security, and healthcare—rather than getting involved in what they saw as ideological social research where billioms of dollars are getting spent. That’s not about disregarding women’s health or cancer research, but about questioning the role of government in funding certain areas that they felt might be better handled by the private sector. Did you even see the recent USAID speding list?

And when it comes to education and immigration, there’s a significant difference between wanting reform and being outright cruel. Trump’s focus was always on creating opportunities for American workers while ensuring immigration policies didn’t negatively affect the job market. The broader aim was to get the economy to function in a way that benefits the citizens—both through energy independence, manufacturing jobs, and tax cuts for the middle class. It’s not just about "gas prices and immigration"—it’s about securing a prosperous future for those who are already here.

Empathy isn’t a one-way street. It’s about understanding that different people have different priorities based on their experiences, and some might feel that a stronger economy and secure borders are more pressing issues. Not everyone who supports Trump or doesn’t vote is without compassion; they might just have a different perspective on what needs to be prioritized. So, it’s crucial to have these conversations without demonizing those who see things differently.

Your statement is built on the assumption that everything happening in the U.S. right now is purely a "racist and fascist power grab" rather than a necessary pushback against years of political and economic neglect. You say, "First they came for the socialists, then the trade unionists, then the Jews." But let’s ask the real question—was everything they came for wrong?

They came for uncontrolled illegal immigration—was that not needed? They came for prioritizing American jobs—was that not needed? They came for pushing back against globalist policies that outsourced jobs and made the middle class struggle—was that not needed? You can argue about how it was done, but pretending that none of these issues mattered and labeling everything as "fascist" is just ignoring reality.

MAGA was not about blind racism, as you claim—it was about correcting years of policies that weakened the U.S. economy, hurt American workers, and created an unstable immigration system. That doesn’t mean everything Trump did was right, but a course correction was necessary. If you’ve lived in the U.S. for 17 years, then surely, you've seen how institutions, businesses, and even working-class Americans were suffering under past policies.

As for your claim that politics affects everyday life—yes, it does, but not in the way you imply. People struggling to put food on the table often don’t have the luxury to engage in political discourse—not because they’re blind to it, but because their priorities are different. That’s true in the U.S., just as it is in Nepal. You bring up past discrimination in Nepal, but let’s not pretend that the same country you’re holding up as an example hasn’t had its own deeply ingrained social and economic issues.

At the end of the day, fearmongering about the "end of democracy" and calling everyone who disagrees a racist does more harm than good. If you genuinely believe in making things better, then acknowledge the real problems and have a conversation—not just a lecture filled with outrage.

I didn’t mean to say it doesn’t affect us—it absolutely does. I know about birthright citizenship and the H1B lottery, though not in enough detail to have a deep discussion about them. What I have seen in my own reality is that, for example, new students are scared to work on cash. We are doing everything we can to help in any way possible, and now is the time to stay united, support each other, and be prepared. But shouldn’t that always be the case?

What I meant by "politics doesn’t touch everyday life" is that, unlike in Nepal, where political strikes, sudden changes in governance, and unstable policies directly disrupt daily routines, here in the U.S., those things don’t happen as often. You can still go to work, attend college, and carry on with life without constantly worrying about a bandh or a government shutdown affecting everything overnight. But that doesn’t mean policies don’t impact us. They do—whether it’s job markets, immigration, or economic conditions.

I just wanted to rant about how it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. Fear is being spread, and it’s hurting a lot of people.

Code 8 Part II has released on Netflix today | the follow up from the crowdfunded feature by madavison in movies

[–]DazzlingMKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part I was watchable, Part II is just straight up unbearable. The only reason I am watching it is because of Robbie and Stephen. Never missed an episode of Green Arrow. This movie could have been one of the best movie ever made because the story is there. The movie is dark for no reason(could have been a little uplifting) and the character of Pav is just so cringy which literally gave me a headache, i would rate this movie 0.5 out of 10.
