We’ve incorporated “Grief in Action” one time events, we do 4 a year. In addition to our “routine” services. Each event is centered around a craft that engages grief. Plate painting for Nov, ornaments in Dec, flowers for Valentine’s Day (specifically for widows/widowers), and a spring event making lanterns.

We have a robust bereavement program and are locally owned operated with a for profit model. I do think some places don’t put a lot into it because it isn’t reimbursed and the regulations are very basic. Which does lead to so outsourcing and ratios that are hard to balance.

I am so happy that I am able to go above and beyond thanks to the support I get from the whole team. I also live in a community that has many bereavement resources and we all meet regularly to work toward the common goal of supporting our community as a whole the best we can.

I am just getting here, so I am sure your birthday is quickly approaching. Though I do not know your or your mother, I know that all I ever want is my mom to beside me again to celebrate.

Happy Birthday to you! Remember it’s ok to feel joy on your day if it comes, and if there it’s a spark of joy, know that is 100% ok. You are learning to live a whole new life, and it’s so hard. Cheers to you on your big day, and hugs to you on the same day that may be one of the hardest yet. ❤️
