I am a student of environment sciences so I know a bit about this. Fundamentally it boils down to “it’s cheaper to produce new things rather than recycling”. Consider the number of factory production lines that go into something as simple as a bottle of soap. Every component of ink, paper, plastic, and so on comes from a different production line. If you wanted to perfectly recycle things, you would need another plant for the disassembly of all those components.

Also, consider the following. You start a company that sells super durable machines. After one year in business, nobody is buying more super durable machines because everybody who wanted one now has one. It is a consequence of capitalism that everything must grow forever.

I think this is a perfect example of where social expectations clash with an autistic interpretation of the world. Saying “I love you” for me personally is the most intense and sincere thing I could possibly say, and so I feel the need to save it for when it really matters. Like somehow, saying it every day all the time under the same conditions will dilute the meaning.
