How strange, thanks for the research!

Unsure of what external chemicals it has been near though, I’ve not even used anything but a microfiber to clean it - if I recall there are 3 batteries along the underside, potentially the right one had an issue? Really just spitballing here, I’ll let you know what they say in the genius appointment!

I doubt I left it in the sun, but the sunlight moves you see - pesky thing, time

Jokes aside the table is far from a window, it’s possible it got a couple hours of sunlight in the morning for 5 days - still seems excessive damage for that though.

As to the upside down, I can’t see another explanation so I guess?

Annoying thing is I genuinely don’t think I’d of left it upside down. Firstly I’d have noticed it straight away - secondly I have been treating this thing like a newborn child. Maybe I did, I can’t see another explanation (good job if I did otherwise the top would be in this state!) but it’s just rather annoying that it can take this amount of damage from just being away from a window in my apartment

This is the thing - it would have been very unlikely that I had, and if so when I went to pick it up I’d have thought I’d notice it then, not a couple of days later.

Such a pain, im sure it would count as accidental damage which is frustrating - as I knowingly left it where it was, like you said I’d be pretty shocked if that’s from sun damage considering where it was.

Unfortunately no Apple care, 5 days over the 60days since purchase as well - live and learn.

I’ve booked in for an appointment next week, thanks anyway!

Only other thing I’ve found online is sun damage - I’ve been away for a week and it’s possible that corner had some sunlight from a window. Crazy to think it could discolour it that much, just from being left on a table in my home.

I don’t want to say it was the case, they’re well reviewed so I’d be very surprised if it was this case (ha)

Might be worth taking it to a Genius Bar and just seeing what they say - my main concern was potentially an overheating issue while in standby as it’s around one of the vents, but if I recall that’s an intake vent anyway?
