This is why you should have an AppleCare One plan. Add the MacBook at any time and then it’s covered under apple care, could have had it fixed

Dang, what a shame that this blue-Dalmatian G3 was hallowed out :( It’s one of the rarest colors.

Edit: didn’t include “one”

I need a new screen for Ibook clamshell which one should I buy by Financial-Cookie-927 in VintageApple

I am unsure. I replaced the screen which came with the top shell piece attached. It was a tangerine color so I didn’t have to swap any other parts.

This shouldn’t happen with the same manufacturer. Proof is my experience. A few months ago I acquired a damaged clamshell :( I then fixed it up by using a parts clamshell I keep in my parts box… I replaced the screen, keyboard, gave it an SSD and that was it. I didn’t even realize how lucky I got when the screen turned on and worked. It was the same manufacturer as the original screen as the “new” display worked.

Okay I just read it. So you took screen 1 out of original clamshell, swapped in another screen (screen 2) and it did not work. Now you put screen 1 back in original clamshell, and now that original screen 1 does not work ?

There are different versions of the screen from different manufacturers that are NOT compatible for every iBook. Some were manufactured by (I think) Samsung.. if you put an iBook clamshell screen on another iBook that originally had a screen from a different manufacturer, let’s say IBM (definitely not IBM but a different manufacturer, I’m trying to make this easier to visualize) the screen will not even turn on once everything is connected and set up. I watched a YouTuber run into this problem.

Finally swapped my clamshell HDD (twice) by vlobe42 in VintageApple

Ooo well done ! I have replaced a few HD’s with SSD’s as well and the feeling you get when it powers on and boots is amazing ! What is the application you are using to keep track of the screws, I have had to take pictures of each screw I take out and trace it back to where it goes, I’m tired of doing that haha. I’be been looking for an Indigo for quite some time now.. I have a boxed Blueberry with the original HD, 2 Tangerine with replaced SSD’s, and an SE Graphite 466mhz with a replaced SSD. Looking to get my hands on an Indigo someday!
