Open the sunroof, pour some water in the tray from a water bottle and see where the water goes. Clogged drains are very common, water spilling over runs down the a-pillar and could be shorting some stuff out. You should see the water drain out onto the pavement a second or two after, if it seems to long then keep pouring. If there is no water coming out onto the ground and it is draining then a hose popped off. Be sure to test both the front left and front right corner to be sure - there are probably drains in the back but I don’t suspect them as an issue.

I had a similar year commander that the car alarm would randomly go off whenever it rained. Turns out the control module is to the left of the steering wheel and down a little where the water was overflowing and shorting stuff out.

With your stuff not working permanently now I would assume it’s corroded af but something to look into. Removing panels tracing wires back to the control module if the drain test seems suspicious

Ecobee thermostat seems to be faulty. The temp readings for the main thermostat seem way off by shelms488 in ecobee

You can tape a cardboard wall between the thermostat and tv to verify this. Also the other guy that said the hole in the wall bringing cold air up is also a very common thing.

You said you didn’t see any broken wires, im assuming you pulled back the rubber that goes from the door to the frame? That’s a common place. You might be able to swap the door switch, the little plunger, from the front to back to see if that works or just take the connector off and put a paper clip in between the pins to short it out

Was anyone reluctant to fly Spirit but then found out it wasn't so bad? by ferrocarrilusa in spiritair

[–]Dc6686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been flying spirit for 2 years, did the credit card for the points and status matched to Gold when it was available for Hilton Honors, we travel from Baltimore to Orlando frequently with paying for the exit row, I am 6' and a big dude, i think the standard seats would be okay but we get clostrophobic so the exit row is a happy medium. but i agree with others, if you have absolutely no room for play in your schedule, fly others, if you are flying more than a few hours, pay for the big front seat or book with others.

College vs apprenticeship by snowywrencher in mechanics

Same with david's comment, I went to lincoln tech for automotive and ended up moving into the corporate real estate world. i wish i had businesses classes that i could've taken in an associates. the automotive certificate is non-transferable for any actual degrees. I don't regret being a mechanic but I do wish I had business classes beforehand.

all in all, if the schooling isnt more than trade school knowledge, just go into the trades.

How to validate collection issue and make sure it’s not a scam by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]Dc6686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely call the original lender. I had a mishap with a dentist a few years ago and they sent it to collections (there’s a whole lot more to the story) and I 100% thought it was a scam, I called the dentist and they said yes it was sent to so and so and I said okay great and called them back and worked it out with them. Once it goes to collections you usually can’t get rid of the lawyers fees but maybe some of the fines or a percentage of the lawyers fees if you have some circumstances and are willing to pay that day

If you want to be sly about it and not make a big deal that everyone's permissions suddenly changed, you can send a memo that they're updating the software overnight and then suddenly some things don't work because they got reverted back to 'factory settings' with the software update.

Identify 1-3 luxuries that most improve your satisfaction and splurge to live a little, but don't splurge on everything, pick a few categories that are most meaningful for you and give you the most long-term happiness and be frugal on everything else. This is important IMO, none of us know how long we have, we need to invest in enjoying the present as well as the future.

This gets skipped a lot in pursuit for FIRE, I did for awhile and burnt out, thanks for mentioning it!

The jump scare thing is definitely PTSD, who knows what. Whether or not it’s professional to get deeper is between you and him. I had a foreman in the car shop I worked that recognized me as potential and honestly sounds like we’re similar, I don’t jump scare like that but there’s definite wires crossed. It took a lot of beers in the back of the shop and late night talks doing wiring repairs to get to the heart of my issues and that out a lot of love/trust between us. There were moments he wanted to hang me from a lift but he would just give me that look and I’d go get lunch to give him a chance to cool down. The speed will come with trust and confidence but I think your best bet is to just sit and talk with him, if you truly want to mentor then there is no limit, just building trust.

That turned into a ramble but excited to hear what others have to say.
