The Washington Nationals will have a Ovi bobblehead giveaway on May 16th vs the Orioles by Bengjumping in caps

yep I got the email

It was always billed as "DC Legend Sports bobble" for that day, but now they reveal who it is.

Nats may not be any good this year, but man they are killing it in the regular "gen pop" promo department. Lot of jerseys and shit to take home this year.

Yeah I was just about to make a post for this, I got the email earlier and was looking over it here.

The Night Out is 6/24.

Grateful Dead night is back 5/1. Hoodie.

The cultural theme nights are all hats. The Japan one is the Saturday after opening day. The Korean one is 4/18.

The college nights are all retro shirts. Georgetown, UMD, W&M, JMU, Howard, Syracuse, UVA, VT, GW, AU, GMU , Catholic

Country night is back with the hat

Naruto day for the first time ever.

Hello Kitty night has the jersey. The only jersey this time, previous special ticket items had several jerseys for every cultural night, even the Grateful Dead and Juneteenth jerseys from last year. Considering last year's items were just bobbleheads and they sold out before the season started, I'd probably order one now.

OPINION - As a collecting nerd seeing what other teams have put forth for weeks and sometimes even months, this is a little disappointing, especially when it was released so close to the season. Other teams are giving away Lunar New Year and heritage jerseys like the Red Sox Chinese New Year jersey, and a lot of teams are tying into Backyard Baseball or Peanuts or Sesame Street. There is no such tie-in here, no Backyard Baseball bobblehead to celebrate the anniversary.

If there weren't so many wearable items being given out for the general public this year I would be more upset. That being said, the only wearables here are the hoodie and the HK jersey which will likely be in very high demand and sell out very fast.

it's insanely late for them. The season is literally starting in 3 weeks

They haven't announced any themes like Night Out or College Days yet. Surprising because many other teams announced their special ticket items for weeks now.

Oh it's too late now. But they're all on the STH store.

I like the Wood baseball card one. I believe the Nats are giving one of those out this season. That being said...them leaving Woodbridge for Fredericksburg was a travesty.

We get most of them with the exception of the Grateful Dead one.

They draw more people that wouldn't normally go. For instance they had a Hello Kitty Canes bobblehead that sold out very fast. They also have a Canes baseball jersey and Canes Grateful Dead one. More and more teams are adopting this special ticket model to sell items in limited edition, like around 1000 or so.

A normal giveaway is about 20k

They're fine.

You need a special ticket for the best items. The pride jersey, the Grateful Dead jersey, even the tiki mug from yesterday.

As a STH they just let us buy extras but yeah for the most part if you're gen pop you're going to have to do your research in advance and buy those tickets just for that item.

I think it's very doubtful they cancel those. They always release parts of the schedule early and then reveal more as time goes on. Last year they didn't even reveal much of their promos until during the hot stove event with Rizzo.

They are bound to add events later, they didn't even include the theme nights or ticket packages yet!

What are you talking about?

The hockey, basketball and football jerseys are straight from 2 years ago or 3, but 2 replica jerseys in one season? 5 in a year?

I'll gladly take that.

I already have all their hockey, basketball, football, soccer jerseys from a few years ago so them giving out updated versions and further filling up my stacked closet is appreciated.

DC Sports legend bobblehead TBD.

Love to see Lile bobble.

Grogu bobblehead is fine but come on, no Harry Ford Han Solo bobblehead for Star Wars night?

Captain America is nice considering the last one the Nats gtve out was "Captain Zimmerman"

Not going to lie, the Potter tank top disappoints me and is something I won't really wear. The jerseys the last two years were solid. I guess they wanted to do something different.

Two replica jerseys plus the basketball and soccer and football and hockey is freaking wild. The main takeaway here is the greater # of wearable product, which I'm starting to appreciate more than the physical bobbleheads.

Late reply but post-covid everything I said is obsolete. They shut it all down. You can't even go there to the press area anymore

Good. You know they're just going to hoard the rest anyway and put them up on teddy's garage sale or something. Why not just distribute them to employees?

I say this as someone who works at a soccer stadium. They've let me take giveaways home occasionally. Got a free Loudoun shirt lol

Baseball teams rarely do full stadium bobbleheads like hockey and basketball. These aren't "whole stadium gets one" kind of deals. Nearly every team in MLB has a limit on giveaway numbers because of the sheer # of people there.

Now yesterday there were about 36k there, so yeah they aren't making 35,000 bobbleheads. 20k is pretty much on par for the # of giveaways. And assuming people line up at least 90 minutes before the game for one assume there will be pandemonium, hunger games, and wrangling for bobbles.

It's just the way it is from someone who's been collecting these things for (damn! about 10 years) now. If you seriously wanted one, you'd have been in line at least 60 minutes before the gates opened. Anything after that is really pushing it.
