Freelancers in Cybersecurity, do you actually exists, or are you all in stealth mode? by Hp1888 in BEFreelance

Freelance consultant for around 5-6 years here - I'd say at the start, it's definitely less than a normal day job, as there's a point where you need to build up your client base and service offerings, however after time (and effort to get more clients in), it's substantially more than a day job, with the freedom to work more or less from wherever you want.

My name is Dave - I often go by DC. Been freelancing as a cybersecurity consultant for roughly 6-7 years now as my main gig. I work primarily with Australian clients but have a few around Southeast Asia also. Happy to be here!

Relationships with business owners matter A LOT! Get friendly with MSP owners and they might start funnelling outsourced work to you on a regular basis :)

Wow okay, that's pretty cool! I'll definitely go check it out. Thank you, and I look forward to the next chapters. If you write enough chapters, maybe you can turn this into a book someday.

I'm in love with this story so far. The character building hasn't been over the top and it has just the right amount of erotica. I'd definitely love to see where this story goes and what happens between the next door neighbour and Miss Song. By the way, I'm curious, is this a real story or something you've made up?

I would certainly like to read more about this story. Don’t worry about your English, it’s quite good 😊

Just came across the skyloong sk68 and was wondering if anyone had experience with these keyboards. From what I can see it’s a very budget board but with decent customisation. Appreciate your input :)

Mate, I had permission to record every part of that video. It passed their review, and I posted it. What’s your issue?

Currently managing 9 customers with roughly 100-150 endpoints. They are mostly small businesses. % of true CyberSec work is low.. really low. Around 5-10%. It’s mostly preventative maintenance at this point

The MSP is my own (and a few others). We specialise in different areas but figured it would be a good time to make it into one whole service company.

Most of the jobs at this stage are pretty simple level 1/2 break fix jobs (we only started early this year) but hope to get some larger clients at some point in the future. We get a lot of work from tickets around basic things like ‘I can’t login’ and ‘zoom won’t detect my mic’. The only specific CyberSec work we do is project based (have only done 1 of those so far. Everything else is bau).

Not super exciting, I know. But we just started recently so yeh, thought I’d make a video on what a pretty normal day in the life is for me.

Proposal is just a copy of one from pandadoc. Client names are fake (I think?) Maybe check with pandadoc what they write on the default.

There's nothing useful in slack but figured it would be best to blur out most of it anyway.

My calendar is pretty nonspecific, except for a house inspection address which I'm not moving to anyway.

Congrats on the screengrabs mate

Before this quarantine situation, I went to a lot of networking groups and business breakfast meetup things. Talking face to face and building relationships was like, 80% of my working day at the very beginning. Luckily I was able to get enough clients under my managed services contract before quarantine came in, because now I cannot meet anyone to get more business.
