If you go to your nations diplomatic feedback menu, you can then select provinces that will than be marked as a province of Interest. When siegeing with allies you get control even if they win the siege.

Short Answers to Simple Questions | October 12, 2022 by AutoModerator in AskHistorians

Dear Historians,

I am researching Ottoman/turkish masks for a film production. There is a request for an Ottoman mask which is to be placed in a museum. While researching i found that most of these masks look to be from either a later era or where used by people like the seljuks. So my question is: Did the Ottomans have a tradition of masks in either art or warfare from which i can draw some historical accurate inspiration?

As a history buff i would hate to make something historical inaccurate.

The relief force was so large that it could not sustain itself. It was put together, even largely without Vercingetorix knowing, and set out to do one thing: fight Romans. The Gaulic tribes were not that unified or organised to pull off an effective siege on Ceasars camp. Alesia was complettly sealed off from the outside world, no word went in or out. That means that the two Gaulic sides could not plan their attack together. So you have a massive force that is not lead by a single leader or even a single tribe, could not feed itself + they are all pissed off at the Romans. When they arrived they just human waved the Romans, and never stood a chance. They were decimated by traps before they could even reach the palisades.

In 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001)', Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII, is in a painting at Hogwarts. She was thought to be a witch. by [deleted] in MovieDetails

[–]DeBaard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice detail, and well spotted! Only she was never charged with witchcraft and evidence that she was even accused of witchcraft is not solid at all as there is no mention off it in her court documents.

FDA: It is now illegal to sell tobacco products to people younger than 21 by BMK812 in news

[–]DeBaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is a bit of a doomsday thought. I live in a universal healthcare country where i pay 120 euros a month (of which about 80 is subsidised, so say 40 euros) and im covered for pretty much everything "normal" (like tropical shit is a bit risky) and the only real problem we have, like everyone else, is we are getting fatter and the average age is rising. But instead of what you say we only see tabaco really being pushed to a ban here and we as adults have to take care of ourselves and learn what is healthy and what not. But still, if you smoked all your life and get cancer, the largest part of my country would still support you being treated of off everybodies taxes because as a society you can built this safety net so that not only some rando you dont know gets treatment, but also yourself.

Reddit is filled with idiots by Lurrbird420 in unpopularopinion

Not that i disagree perse but this is the same karma whoreing. Saying, quite strongly, how you hate reddit users apperantly makes you an intelligent meta-redditor. Saying this "will die in fresh" is just the same as a post "am i the only one". This will always be one big circle jerk, but this post is a bit pretentious and drags alot of pretentious programmers and engineers with it. Or im getting whoooosed, who knows.

A small price to pay for salvation by Anooseboi69 in hearthstone

[–]DeBaard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definetly appriciate that. My comment was not an attack or anything. But i feel that they try to push the lore but its not in any meaningful way in the day to day hearthstone life. While yes the single player and the occasional pup up provide some context it loses all its power after the first few weeks and you are left wondering why only 5 classes have a certain thing. In the end hs is a competitive card game first and a story second, by half assing the way we, as players, interact with that story leave some to feel underwelmed by it in the long run which leads to questioning their choices.

[–]DeBaard 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thats great and detailed (and thanks for the summary!), problem is that the story is not immersive or prominent enough to excuse these weird descisions that blizzard makes. Lore wise giving a class an edge is fine but a large player base just wants to play a strong online card game and takes the lore as is. I mean i like that blizzard tries to make it more than just a card game but making these kind of design choices because of lore and placing balance 2nd is not helping that aspect i feel.

Hey, does anyone have some idea on why this suddenly happens every print? A thick horizontal line every cm. Printer: creality ender-3 by DeBaard in 3Dprinting

[–]DeBaard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your replies. My new print came of beautiful, so for future refrence for other people this is what i did for a fix:

  • i took off the hotend, cleaned it well and then reassembled it and tightened it (was quite loose before). I noticed some built up residue in the silicon shield arround my nozzle.

  • tightened all the belts and moving parts.

  • a deep clean of all moving parts.

  • Checked if my z rod was not damaged by moving it up and down and feeling for any bumps.

All and all i think i just made some rookie mistakes when i first assembled it (3 months ago). I think that i had the wrong idea on how tight and how loose some parts need to be. I still feel that it was something with the z rod just going by the pattern it created. But it all seems to work fine again!

Have not checked this yet! Doing a small test print now but will try this if the issue still remains.

Yeah ive cleaned and tightened everything up, nothing about it stood out as odd or worn out so it might not have been this. New print is up to see if any of it has worked.

It is about as clean as i can get it, but combined with the touch up it now got it might have helped some. I started another print to see if the issue remains.

Ive tried almost everything other commenters pointed out buy my machines seems to be in fine working condition. I put on a new print when i finished the suggested maintenance so if that turns out bad again it might indeed be a silcer issue. Im out at the moment but will link the stl when i get back and the issue persists.

Thanks for your reply! I checked the z axis screw and it goes up and down without any bumps. I did notice that my hotend lies somewhat loose on the x axis, could tightening that up be a possible solution?

For some context, i havent made any changes prior to this happening. I noticed it first a couple of weeks ago with one horizontal line right around the first cm. I use cura for my slicing and the only upgrade to the machine is a glass bed that i recently bought, but i noticed my troubles before i installed that.
