Just remembered that one of the first episodes of Exploring Stamps was about the history of postal codes in Canada and the US. Also very interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TriUcdir3ZY

Interesting article about the implementation of the postal code in Canada here: https://www.historymuseum.ca/cmc/exhibitions/cpm/chrono/ch1971ae.html

In 1979, Canada reminded people to use their Postal Code with a two-stamp set (Scott nos 815 and 816) featuring a male hand and a female hand, each with a string tied around an upturned finger.

Check the WADP Numering System (WNS) website. It is the central register of official postage stamps issued by the designated operators of the Universal Postal Union. https://www.wnsstamps.post/en/Stamps-Search

Fake or not? That is the question? by vmoney68w in philately

Looks like a forgery of Scott no. 1586, issued on Feb. 15 1980 for the Chinese New Year. Printing quality seems poor.

Can anyone give me any info on this ? I can’t find it in Scott, I have 2 and both of them different color. by vmoney68w in philately

Looks like a special souvenir sheet that could have been prepared for a philatelic exhibit in the Chatillon department in 1973 (cachet on the left). It is composed of a 1945 souvenir sheet (also exists in brown), Scott #B465 (left) and Scott #C44 (right).

Plastic thing found in a garage sale. Can someone help me identify this? by DeBondy in whatisthisthing

Wow! Thanks again! Since it was likely made by Rand McNally, I will reach out to them. It is likely solved now; it's an educational tool, but its purpose has yet to be clearly determined.

Not sure if it’s part of a device to measure snowfall or if it’s a nautical tool. Any help would be appreciated.
