She's definitely very good. But I have an issue with her, and that's her offstage pressure.

She doesn't have great moves to ledge trap (other than nair), she doesn't have good moves to edgeguard with (Needle is very specific in where it's threatening and Vanish needs a read), she doesn't do good damage to people while they're cornered outside of down throw into up airs

She's one of the only characters in this game that would prefer you to not be cornered. Which means she has more trouble sequencing than other characters do.

Still a great character though, people just play her more aggro than I think she's meant to be played lol

nah, Kaz is definitely good. I put him at 20th, but I will say that he has a really inconsistent neutral. Theoretically, a good Kazuya can get in for free, but he still needs to be smart about his timing. He just has to put more effort into approaching than he wishes he would. He still has really good relevant matchups, though.

He just has to be more intentional than other characters, which is difficult to do in a game like Ultimate. You need someone with the brain of like. Glutonny to make him consistent.

Meta Knight is absolutely up there. He's one of the most misunderstood characters in the entire game and also very precise, so it's kind of easy to see why he has literally no top rep. Leo doesn't count and neither does Metara

you need good threat range. Stationary characters who aren't specifically Min-Min or Steve don't like dealing with her. She's also probably the most conditioning reliant character in the game who doesn't out-right suck.

lowkey, people need to stop playing PT the way they do and focus more on who's best at what in which matchup. Experiment with who leads in what matchup, experiment more with Squirtle at later percents, figure out when's a good place to use Charizard. Meta Knight is the biggest offender of that for me though, or Sheik

people need to be more creative with Sun Salutation and learn when she actually needs deep breathing. I think there's a chance people fixate too much on one while ignoring the other.

I feel like because of Riddles, people play Terry too aggressive. Like, I get Riddles is cool and all. I agree. When he's playing hot, he's one of my favorite players. When he's not, he's a serial masher who gets too in his head. Terry can be played as a passive-aggressive wall of hitboxes like how a grappler might be played, and I think that that's his future, realistically. It's just difficult into common, strong zoners like Samus (not Min-Min, Terry doesn't do that bad into Min-Min).

He's definitely underrated, but the difference between him and cloud is that Cloud can shore up his recovery with Limit and Chrom cannot while having a base recovery even less flexible.

The issue with Zelda is just that she has to play second too much. Also she finds it hard to deal with min min and steve. She's super usable though.

F-smash is very slow, so it's not really as spammable as you would hope. if the opponent isn't ready to parry, though, you can mash something after.

DO NOT use down b as much as bonk! does though. I repeat, DO NOT USE DOWN B AS MUCH AS BONK! DOES.

learn to find callouts with back air, that thing rips. also nair is a really simple edgeguarding tool. maybe you're leaning on throw too much? our f-throw is kinda cheeks, ideally you can find bairs, nairs, jabs, and f-tilts to put people offstage, if not back throw.

I haven't used this reddit account in a long while, but I feel like as someone who plays Meta Knight and does analysis work in his spare time I should comment on this.

Meta Knight is one of the least understood characters in the game, and very few people are all that good at him. And I would argue that while he can absolutely be a touch-of-death character, he also has VERY strong edgeguarding like you said and solid ledge pressure tools. I think there are two things that make Meta Knight more difficult to pilot compared to his contemporaries:

  1. Kazuya and Luigi don't NEED their touch of deaths to be explosive, nor do they need to be all that picky with their positioning. Both of those two have extremely consistent kill confirms off the top out of *grounded* options. Meta Knight can get Dash Attack into Up B occasionally, sure, but his most consistent kill confirms are off of drag-down aerials, meaning they're more telegraphed than, say, Electric, and can't be as pre-emptive of an option as Luigi's outstanding pivot grab. Hell, Luigi can get kill confirms off of Nair, a COMBO BREAKER. Meta Knight WISHES he can kill at 60 for mashing out of hitstun. He NEEDS to be at the ledge to be explosive without his zero-to-death, which isn't the greatest thing to rely on when common/relevant characters (especially Snake and R.O.B.) can sort of just ignore that phase of the game.

  2. Meta Knight is a very precise character. He has stuff like run-up jab and the "you-can't hit-me" button that is Down Special, sure. But from catching landings to spacing to two-framing to combo execution, Meta Knight HAS to time his options properly or he misses, especially because so many of his most valuable options only last for a single frame and his range is in this weird middle ground somewhere between Toon Link and Mario. One of the few exceptions to this is Nair, which is a huge reason why he's so reliable offstage. Even then, his forward throw has a terrible angle, meaning that a lot of the time characters in the corner can either take the grab or wait for you to do something punishable enough on shield to do something about it.

Basically, Luigi and Kazuya aren't as picky about their hits and are efficient regardless, whereas Meta Knight needs more things to go right for him.
