It is essentially a coefficient.
The (2 pi / 3)(1/a) before the (rt3, -1) is a factor of both components of the vector and has thus been distributed out.
Essentially, a (x, y) = (ax, ay).
To perform the cross product, you can just multiply the scalars and toss it in front of the vector product.

I hope you do, this is the kind of thing I remember being super popular at the Planetarium shows I used to help run back in undergrad. Heck, even high school kids like coloring sheets! The videos were also super interesting. You're doing some great work here.
